Be sure and check on road construction.
35W closed near Minneapolis plus other slow downs and detours.

35W closed? Yikes, that's the route we were going to take. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, 35W is down to about 2 to 3 lanes in each direction. I hear they are closing 35W over the weekends. For those of you not familiar with the Twin Cities, it's one of their major thoroughfares. We have to alter our route, too. Thinking of taking 494 past the airport, then North to Snelling. So yes everyone, be aware of the 35W lane closures.

On a great note, the weather forecast just keeps getting better and better!!

Let's bump this up for the evening crowd.
The road work link is in the post above this one.

  8. Coming from the south, you could take 35E, then Ayd Mill Rd over to Snelling; avoid all that 35W stuff.

Will there be a H.A.M.B.er meet and greet this year? I think @Moriarity had a banner last year too tell people where it was at but it never made it to the fairgrounds,

IMG_20180621_141019.jpg IMG_20180621_141007.jpg 4 of left from Pittsburgh, Pa. this morning, Wednesday. Drove 640 miles and made it to Portage, Wisconsin. No breakdowns but I could only drive my flathead 65 to 70 or it would start pushing water out the radiator cap. Traffic around Chicago was terrible. Had a little rain but mo IMG_20180620_071628.jpg IMG_20180620_084840.jpg IMG_20180620_084845.jpg IMG_20180620_084858.jpg IMG_20180620_184658.jpg st of the day the weather was good. Day 2 wasn't quite as good. We got about 100 miles from St Paul and my flathead blew a head gasket. Found a new gasket from a fellow NSRA member and was able to replace it in a motel parking lot. Rest if the trip went good , arrived in St. Paul about 5:30. Looking forward to the show tomorrow.

Pedaled my bike around the fairgrounds this afternoon. The camp grounds are starting to fill up and the vendors are setting up. Everyone I talked to was in a good mood, about half had a beer in one hand. :p

Well, I'll be there with a couple of buddies for the day but reduced to hoofin' it as my longest car project ever is still in the garage. First time attending was around 1983, made a lot of them but haven't been for a few years.
    Looking forward to it. :D

Just returned from the south registration pick up in Eagan. Lots of people and cars, I snapped a few pictures of cars that are hamb friendly. Lots of cars arriving today.

I just got back from Mancini's where the Hot Rod Road Tour stopped in for a car show. Nice cars and drinks with an Elvis impersonator. What more could you ask for?

Is this car representative, in any way, of the hot rods and custom cars of the 1950's, '60's or even the '70's in the US?
    I don't believe it is !

It just goes to show that if you pay the entry fee, you can drive most anything through the gate !

Up at 3 this morning for the start of Back To The 50s 2018.

I've taken some photos but they are really slow to load on here because I'm "roaming". I will load more later when I have a better connection.

90% of the cars here aren't representative of the 40s 50s 60s. So what? It's the msra back to the 50s, Not the hamb. Look at the cars you like, walk past the ones you don't; enjoy the show

This 1940 Ford Coupe is incredibly nice and has an equally amazing history. It has 40,000 original miles with its original flathead, untouched interior, original full set of keys for the glove box, doors, trunkand ignition and the clock in the glove box door still works.

I’m heading out of Chicago shortly to head there for my first time!
    I’m so excited.
Been wanting to attend this show for a really long time, and just never made plans.
I wish my dad was around to go with, but I’m sure he’ll be lookin down on all the great cars and parts with me!
