Hot Rods simca 5 hot-rod, the french twin sister of the fiat topolino

hello, new member on the h.a.m.b.s, I present you my project. a simca 5 (same as the fiat topolino). I plan to put a GM 307ci, with powerglide gearbox, 10/15 inch rims at the rear and rims harley davidson flh in 16/3 inches at the front with braking harley 6 pistons. aluminum floor. I did a lot of car, but it's my first hot-rod (a dream since long time). Some pictures to give you an idea of the progress of my project. I put it in a first time on its wheels . I am French and it is not easy for me to communicate with you, but given the projects mounted on this site, it can help me to realize my dream and any advice is welcome. very happy to be with you and to share ideas

Welcome, . Nice coupe you have there. Quite a few Simca 5/ Topolino cars here on the h.a.m.b. I have had at least 10 of those little cars . Still have two of the later model , Simca 6 convertibles. Most of the coupes are allways Simca 5 , hardly ever see a Simca 6 coupe.

 

Very nice, I bet that will be real "cozy" with you and a passenger.

 

thank you, I'm looking for a lot of ideas on the internet, I think to put aluminum bomber style seats.
an interior in the style of "bad news". I put it on wheels first and then I would take care of its external appearance. we find some parts for these vehicles in France and Italy, but some very hard to find

Model Y's are another nice Little hot rod, I'm thinking that you like them because they 'fit' you. I know being 5'8" and 160# that I would fit them pretty good. Happy Building!

 

I have one too ! My plan is to build it full fendered, road race style, with a 215 aluminum Buick and a 5 speed. Looks like you have a great project going, best of luck.

I was sure you would join in Marty, a bit small for my frame but I sure like looking at them in examples besides drag cars.

Yes great example..I think a sports car club threw him off their event because he was so much faster than the sports cars!

 

I was pretty impressed with John Callies car when it was black, but it looks OK in white too !

 

Yeah, and think how much more suspension has advanced since John built the car, with British front suspension and a narrowed Olds/Pontiac rear axle.

 

Nothing wrong with that, one thing I never cared for were the wheels on the original car.

 

Marty, when you shared your plans for thd Fiat, that was the car that came to mind! 303 Pontiac, right? Does that make me an old fart? ( Doesn't really matter, 'cause I am.

 

Atypikauto, nice little Simca you are building. What rear axle are you using to go with your Chevy 307/PG? Frame fabrication looks nice.

 

I think this is a Simca 8, but it might be a little inspiration.



And yes, that's a 1/4 mile pass, with a 9.857 E.T.

Great looking car but the rear wheels look like they should move ahead just a wee bit.
