That era was Space Fever! We thought we'd have orbiting cities, bases on the moon by now! Be mining the Moon!

I just thought it was a throwback to the urban legend, similar to the guy that put a JATO bottle in the trunk of an early 60s Chevy to see how fast he would go. I thought the idea of using the bigger rocket on a Plymouth, was to make certain that it was a Chrysler product that hit the side of the cliff going faster than some piece of old GM iron.

BTW, I know a guy at a squadron beer call, that in a deep state of inebriation, was convinced to attempt to ride a bicycle with a JATO bottle attached. What saved his life, was when the bottle fired, the acceleration pulled the bike right out of his hands. They went back to the bar for the debriefing. The bike was never recovered.
