So a little update... the car is moving along waiting for some suspension parts to come in to finish the hair pins. Engine is getting mocked up and waiting om the bearings and seals for the 39 3 speed. I ended up buying a patch panel for the cowl. I dont think i will be attempting that project maybe a professional. Really just trying to make a driver and then doing stuff as time flys. I had a contact for a 33 grill but my trip to NC got cut short do to my uncle passing. Now i gotta search for another. Thanks again everyone for the words of wisdom!!!

Car is looking great! If you are doing trog, they don't like white walls. I like them though. Keep the progress and pictures coming

 

I bought them for rollers off a guy on here!! Thanks. I am planning on getting me some bigger tires again for the rear and in blackwalls!!

Alright, been busy but wanted to catch people up who care!!! I rebuilt the 3 speed tranny and it came out amazing!! I got the new motor sitting in place and the front suspension 90% back together. I am still deciding on how i want to mount the hairpins either in the frame or brackets mounted on the frame. Angry Frenchman stop by and showed me how to fix my passenger door and got that fitting right. Next, is getting the not 1933 drivers door to fit... with the new cowl panel that was put in. But its coming along to at least get it on the rode. I think m next step will be finish suspension, f1 steering box, and get her fired up. Then in May I am going to do the Seat, windshield, and figure out the brakes system. Also, anyone think I need to chop it more... I have been getting 50/50 responses from the car shows around florida!!! Thanks guys. I will try to post pics after my college finals!!!

Hey Spencer: Great progress man! You are moving along well. I wouldn't chop it anymore if I were you, but of course I'm not. Once it's done, it's DONE. Hard to go back and un--chop it. I have a friend who did raise one up a bit but I had all the pieces from a '34 sedan I chopped and gave them to him. Your not a little guy either. I'll see if I can find some pics of the buddies coupe. First pic is the coupe that got raised and the sedan was mine in the 70's. Tim

 

So i decided to disassemble my old gal and give her a face lift... soda blasting and metal repair these next few months!!!! Wish me luck... feeling swiss cheese after the blasting!!!

So i started the metal repair, i was going to get the exterior blasted but then found that i needed to dig out alot of bondo in the lower rear quarters. It took me 2 days and about 30 disk and i was able to get it down to bare metal. I dropped the seat off at the upholstery shop and going for the look below. Also, i found a 1948 Packard complete dash on ebay and i will be putting that in the car. Ordered all the body panels tonight and a tig torch from miller so i am pretty excited!!!

I know I know, now I tell you,,,
Next time use a plumbers propane torch, a putty knife. It will take you 30 mins a 1/4 and no dust.

 

Well now I know... maybe there is some in the roof i can try your trick lol thanks for the advice.

I really like the interior you have chosen for a style. If you are looking for that distressed look, that is also a good choice. However I have found that you need something to help that look a little, not really a contrasting color but a complimentary color. Take a look at a color called "Old Whiskey" you can Google it and get an idea.

 

Wow, that little body is in really nice shape.

Well the Packard dash was a project but i did not want to loose all that nice chrome... a little more tweaking but i like it!!!

well done on the dash. They can be a challenge at times.

 

Please help i spent all day today fighting this steves restoration panel under the decklid. My body isnt twisted and everything is square but this panel is either to short or I am missing something. I cant get the left side of the panel to line up with the 3 bolt holes inside. The panel to me is to short... anybody run into this issue!!!

 

Have you asked Steve's Restoration about the fit?

 

kinda looks like another SAR, (some assembly required) type of deal............

 

Have you set the deck-lid on to check it's fit?
