I am a newbie to the "custom" scene and I would like to hit a few shows throughout the year to try and learn a few things. What are some of the best shows with the highest quality customs?

I have searched the KKOA show and the Spectacular is one I have attended in the past. Any other good ones?

  2. You might like the MSRA Back to the 50’s run. Another must attend is the WCK event in Paso Robles California.

Is WCK the old Paso event? I thought it went away after they moved it?

  5. As mentioned WCK in Santa Maria (not Paso anymore)but it is going on this weekend so you missed it this year. The Custom Car Revival in Indy is another good one but it's June 9th so pretty short notice on that one as well.

I don't expect to make all of them. I just want to hit a few through the year. These are a good start.

  9. The GNRS always has a good selection of customs at it as well but again you have missed it for this year.

The Stray Kat 500 every May is really good, too. Almost 100% kustoms and rods, enough to really compare cars to each other to see what you like and don't like.
I walked around with a tape measure a few years ago measuring the rocker panel heights on '49-52 Chevies to decide my preferred height. (6 inches, for my taste.)
Mick is hinting at a show in September, I believe?

But yeah, Santa Maria (formerly Paso) is IT. Couple thousand kustoms all in one place, running from super high-dollar builds to super low-buck and everything in between.

I missed the Stray Kat this year but I am going to the kkoa Spectacular in July.

I have hit the SK500 a couple of times. Never had a chance to try out the Starliner.

Thats the one. USUALLY it is in Wichita but this year (2018) it will be in Dewey, OK with the name "Lead Ain't Dead"
I didn't have to Google it, I just checked Mick's site. Try it...

I'll be honest, I don't care for the 78 LTD that has been made to look like a spaceship. I like the traditional 50's styled customs. Too much over the top and I lose interest.

CCR is a small event. limited to 200 cars by the size if the venue. All proceeds from the event are given to charity. The best day to go would be saturday. the show is at the hotel on thurs and fri, but friday a lot of the cars are on whatever city tour that Kevin has planned....

So, this is basically put on by an individual? No clubs to speak of?

Cars show up from roughly 25 different states. It`s a good mix of traditional customs. There are shows all over the country with different numbers of cars attending. Like MSRA Back to the 50`s. But you have to cover the whole grounds to find the customs. Unlike the Custom Car Revival.
