That new bridge they put in is nice, but I actually miss driving through the dam when going to Vegas. It was part of the experience...

The #92 was Greg Weld in the ex Chenoweth car and Red Amick in the #11 of unknown origin.

Joe Smith was still racing up to a couple of years ago. He had a shop in Dallas building drag cars/chassis.
Here is a photo of Butch Leal, myself and Joe about 15 years ago.

Not pronounced like the city in Germany but with the accent on the first syllable. This town is located in a valley along with paper mills, at least that was the case back in the 70's. The town smelled awful morning noon and night as a result of the mills. The discharges from the paper mills made the soils in the valley acidic which made birch trees thrive. The town was pretty dead in 70's, wonder how they are doing today?

Bob Mathouser in the Walther car at Indianapolis. And you are correct about the nose. In fact, the entire body on this roadster is somewhat unique. From what I've been told the body was done by Jack Sutton in North Hollywood. I don't know for sure who built the rest of the car but it's possible that the entire car came out of the Sutton shop. Maybe someone here knows more about this.

A great shot of Tony Bettenhausen at Milwaukee in 1941. Man, they really packed in the crowds back then. If I'm not mistaken this is Joe Lencki's car and used his own 6 cylinder engine. Joe was a character but also a very bright guy. For year's starting in the 1930s he sold his engine additive "Lenckite" and there were those who swore by it. However, after Joe's death it took the Bruton Smith organization to really make his additive successful under the zMax brand name.

I thought that might be the San Diego Steel Products car but was unsure due to the front bumper.

That Fury in the showroom brings back memories. I saw the ad for it when I was a lad and just had to go see it.
The ol' man had to take me for my eye exam and I bugged him crazy to take me afterwards. Well, little did I know they dilated my eyes. Pops kept his word and took me. It was there on the showroom floor. I could barely make it out so I ran my hands down the side feeling all that gold trim!
Meanwhile the salesman is trying to sell it to my ol' man!

Taken at Cordova, IL. That's not dirt, it's river sand. It's still there and the pits still have LOTS of sand............ There is a nuclear power station right across the highway from it now but otherwise still not a lot of buildings nearby, still a few trees and you'll still see guys with a small tool box and tires stacked next to the car.
