Thinking about the Dayton - Walther car led me to a random thought.

What year did IMCA run a sprint car show at the Atlanta NASCAR track?

I remember hearing a story that Dizz Wilson borrowed Walther's Indy roadster and put Dick Gaines in the car for that race.

I remember reading somewhere, perhaps an article about the Pat Clancy tribute car that A J Watson built, that the concept didn't work as envisioned and the rear drive axle was removed after a few tries.

Perhaps it was the same article, there was a picture of the car taken at one of the tracks in southern Indiana, year unknown, being run as a sprinter with Bobby Kinser in the seat. The car was pretty well thrashed by then and I would bet that the remains are still rusting in peace somewhere around Bloomington or Bedford.

It was 1964 and in this shot I believe the #7 3rd car back is the Wilson/Gaines ex-Walther car. The pointy nose is pretty unique.

Looks like Dizz wasn't the only one who had the roadster idea. Would be interesting to know about the cars in first and second.

The upright with the tall roll bar looks like Darryl Harrison in the CAE car he ran for years.

Who was in the Walther car in the Indy shot ?
