My mom sent me a dvd with this video on it. My dad shot it as a very young man. He ended up driving AA/FA with The Different Drummer. Hope this gets posted right. I think I got it the fourth try. Ignore the music and engine sounds. I'm pretty sure that the company that digitized it for my mom added them. It would have been shot with a home 8 mm camera or similar.
Thanks @shivasdad so that's what was happening when I was 3-4 yrs old...Fantastic footage and what a cool mix of go fast. As Stillrunners said the 4 ups where interesting. Many races looks unmatched. Not being up on such things perhaps there were handicaps factored in or was it was individual times being checked per racer. The chute runs were nitro runs? There were a few that seemed ultra fast n' loud...Well thanks again...
4 abreast drag racing; the 40 Willys Coupe that lifted the front tires on the second gear shift; and AHRA Sanction/rules; all pretty cool. I was there during X-Ray school 82-84; and now it's all tract houses. Make some reprints of the film and sell them. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Thanks very much for posting the video. That was my era at Green Valley. I believe I recognize a red B/G Anglia (with dark windows) that belonged to my best friend and racing buddy Jesse Measles of Dallas. (at 2:38 and 7:49min.) We used to camp together overnight in the pits at big events when I ran a dragster.
