Sweet! Are you going to leave the rest of the tank as is or polish up the whole thing?

It's in original Ww2 era paint with military instructions and decals on the outside. I just can't bring myself to paint it and lose the history . I'm going to leave the paint and add some touches to make it my own.

    'Just Riveting'
    literally

Aluminum is a very beautiful metal to work with and has the look too. It looks great polished or faded and of course painted...

When I was working on a memorial Lancaster restoration I had thoughts of those who had their lives involved in it all...kinda eerie and cool.

I'm pretty sure you think that way as well from your wanting to preserve historic ambience...
    the balancing act.

    Did you self rivet or
    did @Pete help out...
it's generally a two man operation.

    great stuff as always.

All by lonesome riveting Stogy. I'm sure it would have been pretty funny to be a fly on my garage wall last night. I was doing my best Stretch Armstrong impersonation.
I have nothing but the highest respect and admiration for those who served in the defense of our country. This tanks original finish makes me feel closer to America's greatest generation.

I wondered about the long arm approach to riveting those panels in!

Life’s been getting in the way of getting this one done. Got the clutch done, seat mounted , made a firewall. Currently working on the shifter. I’ll post some pictures soon.

I think its awesome you wanting to preserve the paint on this. I understand that it makes you feel closer to the ones who went before. I have felt the same way in the past.

See what happens when you screw around. You end up with a one of a kind gen-u-wine honest to goodness race car.

Great job and good luck as this progress's.

I’m gonna add some air scoops. It’ll only be running 5 minutes or so during each race so I shouldn’t die lol.
