Question....so I see the mounting holes at the top. Will the dash rail bolt in on top of this or are you not using the dash rail?

  2. Great work on the dash.

How about some more pics of Rex?

Back on post #523 there is a picture with my idea. I do plan to use the stock dash rail and either cover in brown leather or paint brown and bolt over the wood.

Now just hold on a second... don't go hurrying past the paisley holes and the dog bone edges. Just because it doesn't show much, doesn't mean we're not watching.

Very funny and spot on; No BS, I'd already sketched and taken a picture of this but didn't post it....

Just need to drill/tap mounting holes, and figure out a mount that isn't rigid. Thinking about rubber bushing/spacers so there is no metal to metal contact somehow.

Perhaps you can mount the bracket solid and cut a big O ring groove inside the bore, may be 3/8 inch or so. Just a thought.

All good in Pea Greenville, just busy with house stuff.
Pretty sure I'm taking a new job that requires a temp. (or) permanent move and preparing, cleaning etc...

Plan to take '52 F-3 towing homemade trailer with '29 Tudor to a small show local August 15th. Will post a picture...

I haven't been getting notifications. You have done a lot. Love your home built pieces. I hope its a quick move for you. (can't imagine having to pack up my garage.)

Notifications on this site don't work very well. I usually only get a couple notifications a day on the two dozen or more threads I'm watching. I go to the first drop down list at the top of the page and click on watched threads to see what they're not sending me notices about.
Pea Green is such a cool car I hate to miss any updates.

No progress, but I did get out of garage and trailered to a work show. Cleaned up some and hoping this gets me a little motivated. As normal, I'm splitting time between other projects.

Don't vent holes in backing plates allow water and dust to enter?
If so, it seems like a bad idea.

Yeah but it’s a pretty common thing to do.

You get rid of heat related brake fade but do end up with the possibility of some water related fade If you go threw some huge puddles.

Haven’t ever seen anyone complain about it that’s actually done this in a car they drive.

Taking in the Fall Color's in 'Pea Green' @'52 F-3? I know you had some hurdles to cross but I suspect that's all filed under old news now...Just curious...Hope all is well...;)

In an unintended way it may help clear out unwanted dusts Hopefully not laden with Asbestos...Thats one area as Builders/Tinkerers we have to keep that in mind with brakes...NOS Vintage Brake linings may contain nasty shit.

But it is as said totally period related detail...

All good with me and Rex. Time sure goes by fast.... I've bought, repaired etc... & sold 2 non-HAMB cars. Put up a carport bla bla bla... and am building a reverse trike/cycle car thing with a HD engine right now.

Thanks for replays, I really need to back back to Pea Green.... 20190929_085157.jpeg 20190919_180515.jpeg

Interesting project, I assume the engine will sit out in the open, no fairing or T radiator shell in front of it. How will you steer it?

You're correct sir. Plan is leave engine wide open, only run a single headlight and/or maybe 2 fog lights....
I've got 2 ideas for steering; I have a 71/72 pinto manual rack that seems to fit pretty well, or I mid 60's Econoline steering box mounted behind dash with a long for/aft draglink, and a an old steering wheel.

I know not very HAMP friendly, but does have a 37/38 Willys front axle and wheel hub with quarter elliptical front leaf springs :)
