    A 4 wheeled Rembrandt...that is...;)

    Does it still exist?

If not it just goes to show sometimes no matter how incredible
something is there is no guarantee it will live on much like ourselves...

    Rip Leonard Benjamin Hayes

This was one of his pride and joys no doubt. It was jazzed up a bit and surely stood out as was the plan. Thanks for your service Sir and you had a cool Hotrod. I too agree you passed far to early.

They are artillery wheels my buddy had them on his 34...not that uncommon. They are nice on the right vehicle.

I think they may be a WWll wartime wheel that was produced for a number of makes...others may confirm.

Update still no definitive orgin other than to say Artillery is a thing people like myself have been told they are but really they are not...funny the thread where Spooky asked to be schooled didn't really provide the origin...

I'm familiar with the style. They were common on GM, Mopar, Studebaker and others all through the 30s way before WWII. I've never seen a set with 5 X 5 1/2 Ford pattern and the wide 5 Ford pattern made the wheel look different. I ran some on my '53 pickup for a while. I never heard them called "artillery" wheels until the last few years on this and other car sites.

I misunderstood your reason for calling them unusual...I did see them on my friends 34 Ford 3 window of course no pics...:(...which had been somewhat period rodded over it's lifetime and it had those wheels and perhaps they where rarer than I thought or it had hub/rearend swaps and or adapters added of which I am not sure.

So Sixball Lens Hotrod was a bit of an oddball after all with all the do dads right down to the wheels...its all good. I am a little surprised we don't have a more explicit thread on the whole story of these wheels as they were cool enough to reproduce.

There were a lot of cool things done back then just swapping wheels or hub caps from a different brand made a car stand out. Wrecking yards were full of wheels and hub caps so they were a cheap mod. There were few after market wheels and they were not cheap.

Being in the military as a career I am sure brought a good paycheck to help afford more than just a daily...if one was interested in such things.

Six Ball I think you are referring to the last post and it may be Hamber Bass's craftsmanship...I too would like to more as well. I looked but didn't find a build thread.

Brian Bass builds some great stuff. I'd like to see the front of that car. It looks like there is some great sheetmetal work up there.

My little Jalopy made out of left over parts. Very few new parts used in this build. Body was made out of a 1997 Ford Fiesta Delivery.

Have you had the maiden voyage yet Edward?

I know you have shocks in work and the fan situation is evolving...just amazing what you have done.

That fox head on the dash whats the story on that?

    I'll bet you're quite eager
