Haven't done anything on the car. I bought a 180 degree drive shaft loop and got pissed off. It was probably 177 degrees you would think for 35 they could take the spring back out. So some how I justified buying a tubing bender. Made a stand and hooked up some cheap hydraulics. No need to rely on anybody anymore.

Looks like you are gettin cramped.
You still have a 180 shoe so it will be tough to pull off that bend.

 

It's a little tight. When it's nice I'll take some pictures. That's why I went hydraulic I can roll it outside and make some bends.

I've been working on a few things but haven't posted lately. Been working on setting up the shop with a few things. Got a buffer. Realized I should've payed someone to buff everything but it's all good.

My next project is getting the floor braces in then the floor. I need to get both quarter panels when I'm happy before I put the inner rockers back in. So here was my work on the passenger side. Drivers is next weekend. I made a handheld planishing hammer for less than $50.00 and got a 9" shrinking disk. It's not perfect, but a 1/16" skim coat should do it.

I used the same axle on my 55 gasser and the unparrel springs freeked me out. I thought the truck had been in an accident before finding out that normal. I use like a 49/50ish early pickup axle with rearched leafs work great once I figured perches had to be angled. guess I got it right car handles great. looking forward to seeing this one run. your are getting there.

 

I've been working on the drivers quarter trying to message that out before I put the inner rockers back in.

I welded that patch In awhile ago shrunk it freaked out then way over stretched the quarter.

All the metal is happy now. Just need to bring up a few lows. But my patience is thin.





I also picked up a buffer and lost my
Mind. Polishing aluminum on a car that doesn't even run. Buffing is easy it's the sanding before that. Something to do while watching tv.





The timing cover and idler bracket should be fun.

if you need a polisher I have a guy that can do all you can give him for work. the motor mount would look cool chrome plated.

I'll do the polishing. It's not mike quality but it's shiny.

That's the plan to chrome the motor plate. Axle. Spindles. Drag links. Pedals steering column engine limiters wheelie bars. Show and go.

Not the springs though. I feel like the rubbing together of the springs ruins the chrome fast.

The chrome wont wear off. I have done it.

 

Haha I'm going to. Chrome axle chrome drag links. Chrome wheelie bars. Chrome linkage. Chrome motor plate. Maybe chrome rear ladder bars.

I'm still alive.
This quarter panel has been kicking my ass. Almost there. Then I can really start getting some things done. Found another front axle to send out for chrome. I smoothed it out and drilled it. I'll send it to the polisher than out for chrome. I'm waiting to get my spindles back from getting matched then I'll send it all out. The spindles are getting machined for aftermarket brakes. No one makes a good kit for chevy truck spindles if you want to go fast. I've been working with speedway motors to make a kit. I filled the 210 trim holes. I had the plugs water jetted out saved a lot of time.

What year chevy truck spindles?

47- 59 chevy truck. They have the kits that you can use gm metric brakes on. I found a wilwood kit that would work but only for 4-3/4 and 5x5 bolt patterns. My front wheels are 4.5". Seems wrong but lemans are hard to find in any pattern. Speedway makes a kit for chevy car spindle that have been machined. The stub on the car spindle is the same as the truck but the spindle geometry is different. And the spacing between the ears is different. So I'm adapting the car kit to the truck spindle. When I get everything back I will post some pictures. I had them machine two sets of spindles just in case....

Here is the car brake kit. I ordered it with out the calipers so I could get mark Williams calipers to match the back. I think they look more old school than the wilwood. I know I need help

Great project and killer fab skills I am right at the point where you are on my 1958 3100 axle for my 55 project. Speedway has a kit 91631916 that has spindle adapters for the 3100 spindles allowing you to fit 1971-78 Camaro rotors and bearings or Wilwood hub 270-10487 that has a 4.5" option.

Yea I probably have the car drawing you need for the caliper brackets. I have 32 Chevy car spindles on my ford. 32 car are pretty close to the same as the truck spindles you have. The spacing for the caliper is the same for sure. We had to make new brackets and spacers for mine. We also had to make a different bearing adapter for the inner bearing. I'll see if I can find pics of mine. I used the same wilwood kit also.

I was thinking about that combination but when looking through the hub chart something wasn't adding up maybe my events got lost with all those numbers. Nice combo what thickness rotor are you going to run?

My buddy at speedway sent me this the other day


They are steel. But I'm at a point when I need things that bolt on instead of taking the time to make everything. Times ticking to make thins thing move.
