Well, that is close. The tires are chalked in an area without meters. Usually, the posted signs say something like "one hour parking" or something similar. The officer chalks the tires on a block and records the time and comes back after the "one hour" plus 10 or 15 minutes. Vehicles with chalk are put in the book.

    Primitive, yet successful.

    Hey Gary,

Nice capture of the staging lanes at Lions. By the looks of the cars, it is 1959 or possibly 1960. The stock class lanes were pretty full except for the top high power A/Stock and SS classes.

It was pretty exciting when your friends would all gather at the drags and pop off their hubcaps, and clean out their trunks to make runs in the stock classes, from A/Stock down to E/F stock. Our 58 Impala with a 348/280HP was in the A/Stock class. It was very competitive (vs. supercharged Ford sedans, big Pontiacs, Buicks and a bunch of 58-59 Chevy sedans) and luckily we won several trophies.

  22. Neon was so cool! I really miss the days of animated neon signs, before some twit decided it was an eyesore and EVERYTHING should be beige. You even see it now with cars, either black, silver, gray or white. COLOR OMG NO!!!!!
