Thanks for your consideration but i think that the roof of the Merc will be fixed and also the roof of the shed that i already have started the rebuilding of, its only the body out there, the frame is in the garage under construction. Sending some pictures of the project and a picture of a friends -39 Willys that is also under the snow, but the spring is coming☀️

  2. The Instrument Cluster hole is as he found his car, I thought the same thing but it looks stock and unaltered to me.

  4. Well, given Ford's penchant for 'using up' older leftover parts, I wonder if this dash stamping was altered at the factory to use a '40 instrument cluster for export. The size of the hole looks about right, although the contour looks a bit different. Maybe Ford used the earlier cluster with a different surround to match the dash.

Ford also had the habit of using no-longer-produced-domestically parts/tooling for export to Australia, sometime with slight mods once the tooling got there. I suspect that's probably the case here. You guys had the '55-56 Ford through '59 IIRC, and the Falcon lived on well beyond it's time here...

  5. You could be right, we are used to building cars with left over parts !!!!

  6. Crazy Steve said just what I was thinking. That hole looks right for the '40 gauge cluster (it even has a curved portion on the end of the bezel to match the contour of the '41 Ford (Mercury is quite different, at least over here) dashboard. Nifty find I'd say!

p.s. I flipped your pic so I could study it with the driver on the "wrong" side.. ;):D

Here's my 46 Short Door Coupe that I just picked up 2 weeks ago. 350/350, motor is painted to look like an Oldsmobile rocket. Just ordered my Coker wide whites and am planning to powder coat the wheels in Black and then drive the living sh#* out of it!
