This will be my first build thread any ideas or thoughts are appreciated. I picked up this 1936 Ford custom about 6 months ago looks to be an old Carson top style car as all work done on car is brazed with some lead still remaining. Some time in its life a lot of the lead was melted out and got a heavy layer of bondo. The rear fenders are molded and scalloped flush mount skirts tapered running boards heavy chop and 37 ford headlights sunk in front fenders. First picture is of when I picked it up and added caps and installed skirts. Since then I pulled the sbc and t5 out installed some bracing fixed some patch areas switched frames installed a 8ba flathead with a 350 auto and sanded the bondo out of the body line. Currently working on the driver side windshield post making it look more like a cabriolet still needs a lot of work. Ill upadate it more as work goes. Thanks
I am going to open up the window channel again and install roll up windows with the help of my friend who is in his 80’s he has built many hot rods and customs he brought over stainless window channel pieces from 60’s ford t birds and mustangs and made a template from an original cabriolet window frame to piece together for the 36
Here’s some pictures of when I was getting the new chassis ready before I put it under the 36 still have to shorten the drive line
Here’s a picture of the old chassis nothing wrong with it just a got a good deal on the other frame came out of a running driving 36 sedan that the guy had switched to a tci frame I cleaned it up installed the flathead with 350 trans using a wilcap adapter and put it under my car I have some extra 36 sheetmetal that I want to put together into a 3 window coupe I’m going to put on this frame after I finish this car
Thanks for the chassis pics, I was interested to see how your rear was lowered. Those are big ass blocks
Absolutly beautiful start I'm building a 36 ute coupe from Australia There are pics some where but I'll post more.
