Should I use a new front spring on the 39 Ford coupe project or will the old one be fine? It was sitting in the barn for the past 35 years. when it did run it was running a nailhead. I guess my plan will be to put a 302 in. The nailhead is way beyond repair.
Since it has/had a nailhead in it, I would rebuild it, or find another nailhead. It looks like it's been off the road awhile, the spring and other parts condition will need to be assessed.
Front end looks a little high to me. Is the engine out now? If the engine is in, spring looks pretty healthy to me.
If it were me I would look the spring over real good. If there isn't any broken leafs leave it alone until you drive it. If the spring is weezed out it will tell ya. Then change it. If it's okay as I would expect it to be then you win. The Wizzard
The way it's sitting it looks like the nail head is in the trunk.Sometimes barns are tough on these old fords... When you make a few more decisions about ride height, tire and wheel size etc. would be a better time to decide what to do with that spring. I would take off of the car to clean it and inspect it fi
