Day 2 of trying to resolve a bad deal on a partial grill surround. The guy sends pictures of the 2 lowers, the top and the center v plus a hood and fender flair. Asks $170 plus shipping and the deal is done. When the box arrives, it's the two lowers and the center v only and says I didn't ask enough qestions. Wow. It' now up to paypal to resolve this one. If he continues to be an ass, for sure his name and the message thread will appear here.
Yes, they are. Here' what was offered ( on red background) and what was recieved on the oak table. I started a paypal dispute 4 hours after emailing him and not getting an answer. I've Told him repeatedly that I'll close it if he sends the missing piece but instead he's getting obnoxious, name calling and in denial. He's Been on hamb since 2013, made 4 sales. Ive bought and sold cars and parts long before the fancy upgrade took place a while back that added fancy new features and this was my first atempt since then. at this point its going to be up to paypal to resolve things as trying to talk to him is going nowhere fast.
A rainy cold day here so it' back in the shop ( as my honey do list continues to grow). I think I'll pull the wheels off and get them ready to pull the rubber off for paint. Theres 4 bright whites waiting to be mounted. Anyone want a guess at the colour the wheels will be?
This week' project list: sandblast wheels paint wheels install the new whites. weld up the trim holes install a new carb. that should just about do it I think.
I may have a complete '41 surround in my garage-- I'll look when I get home if you're interested. It's a bit rough, some moderate pitting, but I'm about 99% sure I have all the pieces. That's my '41 coupe in my avatar.
Those hubcaps look good on the old Olds. Looks like the car went to someone who is properly enjoying it.
after being told I didn't understand, that I expected more that I should and a few obnoxious emails, the vendor grew a pair and said a schoolboy that works for him forgot the missing part. that he'd send it if I closed my claim. I agreed to after I received my tracking number. in the mean time I bought a complete set just 2 blocks away.
guess I'm going door poppers. there won' be easy access once the vents are gone. I found this 66 caliente air cleaner the other day stuffed to the back of my shop. Not a bat wing but vintage chrome anyway.
Another door tomorrow, drop her down on her new shoess and then it' time to tackle the carb. Pretty soon I'll weld in some brake line down the hood and start looking at that rear end and smoothing that out. The plan after that is drive it and fine tune one panel at a time till its done. The chop will wait till winter. I'l black out the fenders for now (maybe the whole thing) but final colour will be...
waiting in the tire shop for your tires to be mounted is worse than sitting in the expectant father waiting room.
I think I'll drop a couple springs out back. she's still sitting high. even a couple pieces of trim smarten up the grill.
Love this thread! I've been threating to build my 41 for the past couple years just been needing some inspiration. Great work on your car sir! Can't wait to see it finished!
Good day to clean the shop and then try taking a couple leafs out of them tear springs. If it' too smooshy I'll re arch them. The only place in town charges $300. In sure hoping pulling leaves will work.
