Hey willy - great build. Thanks for posting. I have a question for you: when you painted the red on your hub caps, did you just paint straight on the chrome or did you etch or sand them first? I'd like to paint mine, but don't know what preparation I need to do. Thanks again.

Back into the A,,have been busy working on our Chev C10 Pickup, painted and panelled and makeover,also working on a 37 ford tudor,bringing that up to NZ certification standard for low volume vehicles,
Now back into the A,,,,will post up pics of progress over the last few months fuel lines an breather line and battery cables rear firewall partition between fuel tank and seat,,, hood louvred punched dipswitch and firewall panel 36 ford headlights mocked up,

Nice Build, Love the 36 lights ... I'm about to install a 36 dash with 40 gauges into the A coupe formerly owned by member Christom ! ... I would love to have saved the original tank but it is leaking like the proverbial sieve so in keeping with his 'using as many original Ford parts ' with a slight twist and the fact that it needs to be RHD (As it was originally built here) to be 'Legal' a few other mods will be required but the coupe will to all intents and purpose Look the same outwardly. Interested to know if your 'firewall partition' is compliant with the LVVTA code of compliance as I thought it would have to be steel ! (or have I misread the code) regards Chris (30AV8)

I've checked with my certifier ,the info I got was that a wooden panel is okay,,this quite heavy duty ply,,,,,,it is very well secured and braced,,,when it's installed at final assembly it will be fully sealed around the perimeter and joins,,

Hi Rodnoc, a very nice Model A. The shifter is a T and F, I bought one from Mark in Oregon a few years ago, great to deal with and a great product. I have mine also behind a 327 in a 35 ford, solved a lot of problems with the X member chassis. Good luck with your project.

 

Heater is out of a Pom bomb(made in Great Britain),its a perfect fit an very simple,easy to mount and the water inlet an outlet pipes line up nicely just above the r/h rocker cover and the intake manifold,

With our weather warming up as we head into our spring,spending more time in the shop,have now finished the 37,, all legal for NZ roads,Time to move back onto the Model A, All the patch panels done,filled in the tail light holes ,and re did them to run four 50 Pontiac lights across the ass,,mounted 37 trunk handle,,and a no plate light I had lying around,cut 1" off the mount end and ditched the no plate bracket that was attached to it Retired the flasher unit,and powder coated the housing finally got my dash insert finished,,tried all sorts of crinkle paint to get the old style effect,I ended up powder coating ( no black available) it,then painting over that in the black(rattle can) ,,pretty happy with how it turned out,,

 

Also blinged up the heater

 

Really nice rebuilds of the parts you're putting on the A.

 

Back in to it,painted and detailed the chassis an drive train,built up a 283 sbc with parts under my bench,, will post up more progress pics tomorrow
