Hot Rods Ford FE dyno sheet, surprise

Hi all, first off heartfelt thanks for such a good site. I am a lurker and the info here has been wonderful. I have a 1966 f100 with a 352 FE that had a bunch of stuck valves when I got it.

I decided to have a local motor shop build the 352 into a fairly strong motor. Edelbrock heads and performer RPM intake, 750 carb, Sharp roller rockers, scat 4.25 crank with dished pistons to make 9.5:1 compression. I had an old pair of junkyard headers

I am not sure how to attach the dyno sheet but it made 502hp at 4900rpm and 564 peak ft pounds of torque. This was a big surprise to me. The builder said it came out to 438 cubic inches.

Nice build, 500+hp. Good top end makes all the difference. Post up cam specs.

If you haven't already, get a set of billet rocker shaft end supports. You'll thank me someday......

 

FE's are darn good motors....like mine stocker's in my trucks just fine....had a built up 410...in a 63 1/2....390 block/428 crank and stuff....it moved on down that road pretty swiftly........

almost have a friend talked of of a 428
its gonna be a toss up between a Yblock and FE for my Merc build

 

I no longer have one, but used to have some FE engines, even had a 427 Tunnelport at one time. I think they are underrated. Even the 390 I had in a Fairlane was one of the strongest pulling engines I ever had.

 

Impressive power out of the FE. When I compare the 390 FE I have to the 383 Chrysler I have, the Mopar dumps all over the FE in similar trim. Good to see the FE has some real potential

My old 63 1/2 Galaxie with Z code, 4 speed, 3.89 T-lock from the factory ran consistent 14.10/14.20s with just Hooker headers and open exhaust. A good buddy bought a brand new 383/auto/3.55 open rear decided that his new Road Runner would give the old fat Ford lessons. After three runs he figured the 383 was a dog and traded for a 70 Mustang 428 SCJ. Just saying....

FE heads were pretty much the same to the 406 Medium riser heads were a big improvement.

I know fitting anything besides a flatly and sbc takes some work in a merc

 

My 352 had a set of C6AE-R heads from the factory which are supposedly real good, probably similar to the ones you have.

It's funny..... I have a 360 block/crank/pistons/rods/oil pan/ignition and I put it on craigslist for $40 and no one would take it. I doubt I could give it away!

 

360 stuff is not very popular
especially when 390 stuff fits the same holes easily

looking for some high crop rear axle pieces so I can flip them and lower mine

 

There are 444 390 stroker kits out there for pretty good prices.

 

The pickup truck 360 is a 390 block with 352 crank and rods, flat top 390 pistons. Would work for a 390 based stroker kit.

 

Is the 360 crank cast iron er forged steel????......

 

The FT medium duty truck engines (330,361, 391) got forged cranks. Pickup truck engines did not.

If you have a 360 that will clean up at .010 over run .060 352 pistons and have good compression height.
