Got my valve covers painted and the fins sanded. Got my solid roller lifters installed and got a rough idea on pushrod length. Ordered my adjustable pushrod checker ordered . Do not try and turn the motor over with a 5/16 dowel dummy pushrod and a solid roller valve spring. They break like pretzel sticks. Just thought I would try it without putting on a lightweight spring.
Happy Easter to all you Hambers. 20180331_152108.jpg

Bought a porting mandrel set from Summit. It was delivered today along with a cartridge roll kit so I could clean up the dingle berries on my Pro Comp Parker style intake.
Installed a cartridge roll on the 8 inch mandrel and put it in my die grinder and immediately it bent to a 45 degree angle and like to rip the tool right out of my hand. I never even got close to the intake just turn it on to make sure it was going to work. Part number POW351510. Apparently this is not the first time this has happened with that mandrel set. 20180403_193955.jpg 20180403_193452.jpg
Called Summit and they refunded my money no questions asked and said don't bother returning the defective tool because it was under $ 50.00. Nice of them but a bummer because I really need to get my intake cleaned up. Got some done with shorter mandrels , but can't reach all the way down to finish. Will try and cut off the bent part and make it a 5 inch mandrel tomorrow.

Got my tail lights installed today. I think they look better upside down. Tried them the other way and they fit the flow of the body better this way. 20180406_160738 (1).jpg C 20180406_160230.jpg hecked my piston to valve clearance. Ordered some Crane pushrods , should be here by Monday so I can finish the motor and get it installed.
Those new aluminum Promaxx heads are so nice it will be a shame to have to paint them , but the Southeast Gasser rules say I must paint them.
Finished porting my intake and have the rear spring buckets made. Will be installing them tomorrow morning.

Check the rules again because i don't think it says anything about painting your heads. It does say aluminum rads must be painted, but I think that's it .

Sent a message to Quain yesterday and got my answer. Unless they were some extremely rare aluminum heads produced before 67 they need to be painted. Will be painted today.
I could not find it in the rules either.

Got my panhard bar in today and my ear suspension mocked up . Will try and get it welded in tomorrow. Got heads painted and my motor is done except for priming the oil pump and can't do that until I get the rear main seal after I take it off the engine stand.
Sorry no pictures. My dropbox has gone into cyber space. All my pictures are gone.

It sucks to get old, the mind is willing but the body won't cooperate.

If someone complains about how the welds look, just let them know they are welcome to come weld the next chassis up for you!

Strange Engineering shipped my rear end parts out today. Things are looking up. I can get my chunk built and put my rear brakes on.

If someone is looking that close you need to ask them what their intentions are. ;)

It is just personal pride knowing that when I could see better how good a welder I used to be.
Not worried about the strength of the welds. I have seen stock cars that I have built rip roll bar tubes in half 6 inches from one of my welds after a nasty crash.

Got my stuff from Strange so I can build the chunk this weekend. Started putting some floors in the car. Not very exciting, just time consuming. I miss my lay out table now that I am in a one car garage . It has rained every day since last week so I can't do anything outside.

Welcome to East Tennessee in the spring:).
In another month or so you won’t have to worry about that pesky rain near as much

Fuel cell installed. Now for the battery tray. Then plumb it and install the floor.
Then remove every thing for paint. 5 gallon cell. Wanted a Moon tank up front , but no room unless it was in front of the grill and then it would interfere with the tilt front end. Did not like the no grill look on this car. Just have to put my battery charging lugs under the tail pan out of site so I won't have to open the trunk except to pour in some gas. Having 5 gallons allows me to go to the local cruise- in without running out of gas. Checked on registering this car for the street and the lady at the DMV was very helpful.

Getting old is fun. You can say what you want when you want. I have lost so many friends too early, so I enjoy every day.
got my battery tray built today . Got most of the rear end built. Ordered the wrong pinion bearings. Can't blame it on the folks at Strange , they sent what I ordered. It has the big bearing support with a spacer and I got it apart and realized that I had ordered the smaller bearing setup. I am glad it has the bigger bearings . I will save these for another 9 inch later.
Anybody need a 4.56 Richmond gear for a 9 inch ? It is perfect. Make some one a smoking deal. PM me. 20180430_200521.jpg
