Working towards a TCI II front end setup in my Bel Air, with R&P steering. The steering tube will be shortened for the shaft and u-joints. Need a tube and shaft support/sleeve 0.750 ID x 2.500 OD. I've looked at a number of sites and not finding anything... Sure appreciate any help, thanks, dyno dave
Squirrel, no lathe... So was looking for a aftermarket part. When I asked about small job at one of the local the marine machine shops, the cost was so scary. This has been done many times, seems like there would be a part number out there. thanks, dyno dave
neat part! 1.5, 1.75, and 2" od tubes they fit, it appears. He said something about 2.5" on his column.
On my 51 I used this bearing, which is just a bit large for the tube, but I had a muffler shop expand the steering tube just a bit so it was a slight press fit. Photos are from mock up. I think I have about $12 in the whole bearing arrangement. The steering u-joint and collapsable shaft that goes on down to the box is from a Jeep. It was $8.50 at the pick and pull. I had to buy one aftermarket u-joint for the connection to the rack. easy peasy.
Squirrel, I'm claiming a senior mental lapse... when I measured the tube ID this morning it had changed to 1.5" and Summit has a Ride Tech poly bushing @ 0.750 ID/1.50 OD part #90001085 for $4.00 such a deal! thank you, dyno dave
Hey, thank you for your info & pictures... Did find a Ride Tech poly bushing from Summit for the now correct sizing, 0.750 x 1.50. Thanks again, dyno dave
