    I like it!

I've often thought the Mongo ship from Flash Gordon would make a cool hood ornament or radiator cap. Especially if you could illuminate the cockpit and make smoke come out of it's "headers" (or nitros!).

Alot of these designs were add ons and could have been used as rad or hood ornaments...
again themes dictate where your going so careful thought is required to make the right impact...

History has happened - we cannot change it nor make it dissappear.
I agree we are not here to judge or moralize good or bad...
Still we must have to admit that some symbols and designs are tied to time and culture that gave birth to them.
Good, bad or sad, the background gives the objects stronger appearance.
I also agree, this object can be taken by face value and given new meaning on some other context, it still will have a strong design value.

This one as it resides on a 1924 model the other was patented in 1930. Doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't created first but I'm going to stick with the one you posted...

Apart from being a seriously cool Hotrod it is sporting a really neat Rad Cap as well...a featured Hotrod here several years ago I never tire of seeing it...

If I'm not mistaken that cap is similar of perhaps identical to the cap Isky was running...actually the Garrison "T" above and the Isky "T" both have similar if not identical caps...

@rudestude question for you...what are the words that are on the base where that mounts to the cap?...any patent numbers?

Truth is little "Big" boy was originally a cork scew....the lettering on front says Bruxells....he is a replica of the "Manneken Pis" a bronze statue in Brussels , Belgium ...how he became a radiator cap.....? Quik story..........
One night while working on a radiator cap for my tractor...girl friend stops by..I had brass screws and things scattered about..what you building ...I showed her...laughs...what you doing with that..pointing to the cork screw on the desk...I don't know....couple drinks....she has a idea...another drink..out comes the cork screw ...shes digging for brass bolts...I go back to what I was doing....found one...ok...she has a brass bolt ..oh ya..two more drinks...replacing the cork screw...got a saw ...cut this she asks...ok where...as I'm pointing trying to find where she would like it cut off...she says more..more..I'm thinking crap what or who is she using to judge this size of this thing....getting nervous, you see we had not "dunit" yet..".hey I was a gentleman "...a little more..ok hold on ..I ask ok what fantasy ride have been on...what you mean...just curious about your size judgement um..you no....she says..you no I got horses.....I follow with..well I'm hoping you don't expect your men to hang with the horses.....anyways about that "Happy Turtles" radiator cap for the tractor..it actually started out as a ash tray that I got at a swap meet...oh ya ..well I'll just say had a fun five or so years ...she's back with her horses...and I got the cap....

That's quite the story...:D...you know alot of these radiator ornaments are actually considered ornaments that may have adorned something other than a radiator cap and were in fact bolted on...
