  1. The lenses on Moriarity's '61 are 1961 Pontiac.

Split bumper grille, Bitchin' side-trim, chrome stars...headlight scoops and even flared rockers are all stock!
    Is that KRAZY or what?

Just for comparison..."El Capitola", one of the most radical cars Sam Barris ever built!

With such cars coming from Detroit, there is little wonder that there was a shift in Kustom trends in the late Fifties.
Unless you were competing on the show circuit for points, why go to all that trouble? Even Westergard traded his custom for a T-Bird.

Frank Monteleone is another case in hand. After major time and money spent on having his '41 Ford customized by the Barris's, Frank follows up with this mildly reworked '56, which lands a starring role in the movie "Hot Rod Girl".

The Kaiser looks radical, but has only a few discrete mods... shaved, lowered, wheels and subtle headlight treatment... nicely done!

Nice to see a '57 go this direction instead of the "me too" muscle versions!

Nice clean look. Everything done makes it look better than factory. Just my opinion.

Most everyone here would know Ina Mae Overman's stretched '52 Lincoln, but you may not be aware of her '55 T-bird, also from Valley Custom.
You sure don't see many fifties cars with Model A bumpers!

    And speaking of Valley Custom...
Doane Spenser's Deuce roadster was literally one of the best ever, but his follow-up T-Bird was also a real piece of work. Bought new in 1955 and taken to Valley Custom for a make-over, the car's body mods were somewhat more than mild, but true to the car's original character. It was actually more road-racer than Kustom, and turned 150+ MPH at Bonneville.
Good photos seem hard to find.

He passed me at Doheny then I started to swerve, but I pulled her out and there we were-at Dead Mans Curve...Dead Mans Curve is no place to play. Good tune @Mo. written in about half an hour and credited to: A. Kornfield-B.D. Brian Wilson-Jan Berry-an a Dj named R. Val Christian. But it all started with that Stingray with the six taillights. Good stuff.
