  2. Hey everyone, Happy Easter to you all.
I hope you all have a fab weekend with friends and family.
It's our Nostalgia Drags tomorrow at Meremere Dragstrip, really looking forward to it.

Here's a pic from when I was away down country working earlier this year and managed to drop in to see my friend Surtz and check out his latest Model A build.

upload_2018-3-30_3-56-31.png POP UP HOT ROD EASTER CARD

upload_2018-3-30_3-59-16.png upload_2018-3-30_3-57-19.png (POP UP CHRISTMAS CARD) (Moose)

    Hello,

Last Christmas season, our resident Photoshop expert “The Moose” gave me a great idea for anyone to make and send a custom Christmas/EASTER card to friends. It is a simple pop up card with only two slices or cuts in them. If you want to hide the cuts, simply add in another similar card stock on the backside and glue it to the one with the cut.

The EASTER BASKET version is just a different way to enjoy custom made cards geared to your friends or grand kids. Their photos, their hot rods, your own family photos can all be sized to fit into the colorful eggs to stand out when it POPS UP!

    WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
    1. Printer paper, photograph of a car, family, or both
    2. A thicker, smooth card stock paper that will be sturdy
    3. An envelope that fits or the custom pattern below.
    4. Xacto knife, cutting board, etc.

    Steps: practice
    1. Select the photograph, size it to your liking, making sure that it is in focus.
    2. Select the practice printer paper and do the whole project first
    3. Fold the paper in half
    4. Open it up and measure out where you want the pop up step to stick out.
    5. Draw the thin pencil lines on the sides where you will be making cuts.
    6. Once the cuts are made, go to the top and bottom to make a gentle
crease/fold. It helps the pop out step do its thing correctly.
    7. Practice opening and closing the folded card to check out the pop out step.
    8. Make you corrections on the practice paper.
    9. Once the cuts allow the pop out section to fold correctly, then you are ready.

    Steps for the final:

    1. Make your outside card from the card stock paper
    2. Make your cuts
    3. Help the folds fold/lean correctly
    4. Measure the area where the photograph will be glued down
    5. Adjust the photograph size to fit
    6. Print out your photograph on card stock
    7. Glue to the front of the fold out surface that will lay down.
    8. You may use color card stock, plain white or add your own color
    9. Above and below the pop out photo, there is plenty of space for greetings, family notes, etc.

If your giving list of children/grandchildren is large, it will take a while, but it is still “doable.” Customize each one for each family member or friend. Make the photos personal (single portrait) along with some hot rods, etc.

Add in your personal sayings or Happy Easter stuff in the blank spaces above and below the pop up Hot Rod Easter Basket.

Your own production company always gets a round of laughs from the family & grandkid.

Finally, since the card will be an unusual size, a standard envelope may not fit, so here is a simple pattern to make your own folding envelope, fit to size, of course. Color, add more designs, colored construction paper, or leave white.
