The first attached photo looks like Hal Minyard in Leonard Surdam's sprint car; probably circa 1965. Minyard was a two time CRA champion and also won the Eldora track championship in the early 1970s after moving to the Midwest. Of course, he was also an early manufacturer of racing helmets.

The second photo is a complete unknown to me. But it's certainly an interesting looking big car and the photo looks to have been taken somewhere around 1940.

    Thanks as always, Rootie!!!

Seattle's Battery Street Tunnel Highway 99/Aurora Avenue. Vehicles in photo are traveling in a southwest direction heading into a sweeping slightly down hill left hand turn, modern photo is looking southwest at same turn. One of my most butt clenching automotive moments was riding shotgun through that tunnel in this very spot in a Porsche 914-6 at speed, top off, flat 6 screaming driver misses downshift [goofy 914 linkage] one gear to low, good thing those motors have a lot of main bearings revs to the moon! Driver reeled it in and we shot out on to the Alaskan Way Viaduct into the blinding summer sunshine, I'm a lot older man now but I will never forget that moment, we were laughing our asses off after. Seattle has a few of these type tunnels and if you have ever traveled them you will see tire marks way the hell up the wall and wonder how and the heck that got there---wonder no more. Shortly this tunnel will be gone being replaced by another deeper more modern tunnel.
