History Lost Custom ???

Went to Spring Turkey Run this weekend. I found this old custom. According to the guy that had it it started out a Lincoln. He said rear quarters where Corvette as is the windshield. The front fenders are combination of T Bird and Caddy. The decklid is stock 36 Ford. I'm sure alot of you guys will recognize parts from many other cars. Does anyone recognize this car or know any of it's history?

I never said it was a good looking custom. But it was very creative none the less.

 

you will never get all the ugly off that front end.

 

Maybe a Spohn fibreglass body?

 

That has to be the Only Corvette quarter panels I've ever seen that have Rust on them. That's a Darn good trick to pull off. Over all, I could live with it.

53 or 54 Ford dash, I doubt the rear quarters are Corvette, as they are rusting. 53 Olds grill bar. It would be interesting to see what engine was in it. I wonder if it didn't start out as a 56 T Bird.

No offense intended @Gregg Pellicer. I’m not into trashing anybody’s idea’s or builds, but in this day of Barrett-Jackson auctions where they want to classify everything as “Custom. Well I guess my point is everything called Custom..., isn’t, and just being called Custom doesn’t mean it has any value. Some Custom’s started out great, but became ridiculous as the builders kept adding mods.Soon the original theme and flow of the build were lost. Some are just ugly, but as an enthusiast of a small hobby... I hate to say anything to the detriment of the hobby. Jus my opinion.

1936 Ford deck lids aren't that big. Maybe '37-'38.....

Oh I know. I was just trying to find pictures or history and a lot of times I can find something by the mods/parts on a car.

I was just putting that out there for anyone else trying to do the same....

Haven't found anything on this one though.

 

My shop teacher from high school also looked at this car and thought seriously about buying it. He got a slightly different story, that the car was built in like 49 or 50 and that the taillight design and windshield is what the Corvette was based off of, at least that's how I heard it, which sounds like it can't be true judging by the age of some of the pieces that were used, unless it was massively reworked again later on in it's lifetime. Also I heard that the guy had an offer of $5000, not necessarily that's the asking price. But this is all 3rd hand info so might be meaningless.

However, my shop teacher was able to get pictures of these old snapshots from the guy, which are interesting. Keep in mind that these are cell shots of photographs and also I did some cropping and cleaning-up on these to make them look good posted here.







It looks to me to have been a fairly nicely finished car at one time which has suffered greatly from poor, outdoor storage, which is a shame. I kinda like it.

It would seem that the current owner doesn't really know the history. Don't know about the price but I asked him what he was asking and he said 5k. Maybe he misunderstood my question. None the less it a very interesting car.
