Rodder's Journal. Sometimes I'll buy a Hot Rod or Road & Track magazine at the airport magazine stand while on a business trip; to see what the young guys are up to.
Yeah. Rodders Journal. Hop Up. Other than that I'll hold out and buy a CarCraft/HotRod/RnC/CustomRodder/Etc.. from pre 65 if I come across one. Have quite a few now. Oh and Lowrider. Because Lowriders are fuckin awesome.
Rodders journal lifetime subscriber. Occasionally Street Rodder. I miss the days of Rod Action, Rodders Digest, Rod and Custom, and Hot Rod Mechanix. I’ve got a huge pile of old magazines, no one wants them anymore.
Rodders Journal, Hot Rod, Just started Street Rodder again [$20 for 2 years] and I refer back to my complete [less 4 issues] collection of Rodder's Digest from time to time.
Rodders Journal for the rest of my life... or their's. Whichever comes first. Hop Up, which is kicking ass in my opinion. Hot Rod Deluxe because it's mostly good stuff, and I hope TEN (the owners) will continue to see that there is still a demand for traditional hotrods.
I like supporting these guys... Luke at Kustoms Illustrated Folks at Hop Up Rodders Journal Traditional Rod and Kulture They seem to cover the stuff I like
Rodder's Journal, Hot Rod,and Street Rodder-then give them all away after I read them so others can enjoy. Used to keep em all but got tired of the clutter.
I believe the new cartoons mag is made near where I live. Marc Methot the guy that brought back the new CARtoons grew up an hour away from where I live
Doubt it. If it weren't for magazines and flyers, I wouldn't get anything at all. Mailman needs something to deliver to keep his job!
Hot Rod Deluxe seems to be back on track with traditional hot rods...Got my second copy and read it cover to cover. There was a deal on the mag, (included Road & Track on line, but I kept the HRD and nixed the Road & Track stuff) Some 'shop builds' that were 'Boydish'; laughable, waste of time. When the third HRD comes, my daughter will thumb thru, and give me a heads up...
I use to subscribe to them all,now I am a lifetime subscriber of The Rodders Journal and that's it. You and me both Brother! HRP
Another Rodders Journal subscriber here, but to tell the truth most of the cars are overdone IMO. Too much gold-chainer content sometimes. I do enjoy the 'back in the day' articles though. I gave up on the 'mainstream' mags years ago; too many quasi-articles that were very thinly disguised advertisements. The last one I took was Auto Restorer which had a fair number of how-to articles, but hot rod content was spotty at best. They didn't accept ads though...
I gave up on Hot Rod when they put a VW dune buggy on the cover in mid 60s,,lost there way an never found it again IMHO,Kept on enjoying CarCraft ,Street Rodder,Rodders J. I'd love to find again some of the early 60's local Florida small mag.s{ Little book size} But they were short lived, back then I 'd get one fore free at the cars show, each show{ Being I actully never gave $ for them,I may of been part of why they only lasted a few issues. I did put a add {I Do Wild Car T-shirts an custom airbrushing}in one ,"Coconuts & Custom Cars". I thinking back trying to remember some of the other mag names???coming up with zip/a few too many year between now an then. If any have or remeber more ?
Hot Rod, Hemmings Classic Car, Collectible Automobile, Automobile. Plus Studebaker, VCCA (Chevy), & MSRA club pubs. Otherwise I'm letting magazine subs drop in favor of the Alliance membership here.
