I've decided to bob the rear fenders, or what was left of them anyway. I have in mind what I want and had a play last night. I want a continuous swage on the border of the fender to make it look kinda factory and less hacked up. One of the keys I think is making them flow. I'll shorten the front to line up with the body line and radius the corner. I used a couple of bedford truck fenders I found in a pile of rubbish to help with the shape. not the same as these but similar and a better finish with a continuous swage on the fender.

I've had a little bit of trouble with the hamb app on my phone.... made some progress recently with the annual Ballarat swap meet. Scored a few items.
Made the trip to Melbourne and installed a vanity I built for my sister, then headed to the swap meet the following night. sleeping in the car ready to pounce when gates opened... scored a few things I concider to be nice items. 36 radius rod ends, couple of dual carb manifolds including the original "lundberg & son" which is a nice piece of aussie speed equipment. Also scored the edelbrock with carbs. I love the fuel cap I picked up for $5... with the key! I also purchased a cheap dash for my one day 32 5w... and a couple of windshield frames with hardware.
Weather was crap but I still had a great time! Rushed home and sold some parts, which were less important to me than the parts I had just aquired. Making sure I had money left to pay the bills... because I had a few days of leave from work organised, I spent monday and tuesday in the shed cleaning up my parts and working on the 32! Made up my door patch on the english wheel and tried my skills at annealing. Working on the stretched section in my door, which needs more work, but looks alright. I also wheeled the upper cowel patches and formed the front chanel out of 20×20mm square tube. (I cut the first attempt out). Splitting the tube with the grinder after I bent it. I also have a patch coming for the cowel vent soon I hope...

 

Your rubbish is killer.

 

Roadster is coming along nicely. Love the woodwork and design on that OT vanity. Nice craftsmanship all around!

Congrats on a fantastic find. I didn't see your thread until now but know exactly how you feel, as I just recently got the chance to buy a '32 Ford roadster body.

Nice job! That vanity is a beaut too!

 

I've managed to get a hold of a couple of cowel vent patches for the roadster. One looks quite good, the other has pin holes in the chanel of the cowel vent, but has the front swage. Swapped some nice windshield posts for the pin holed patch, I hope I don't regret it!

 

Those are the posts I'm swapping... I haven't seen these patches yet in person, but I'm sure I can make them work!

 

Interesting way of swapping your way towards completion. Cool but time-consuming I guess.

It had to be a swap with one of the patches, it was the only way he'd let it go.

 

I gotta be honest. I wouldn't make that trade. The windshield stuff is way more valuable. I've got a cowl vent I would sell ya. But shipping from the states might kill the deal.

 

I didn't really want to do the swap, but I want the cowel vent opening and the posts owe me nothing essentially. After selling the rest, they were the best ones I was going to keep.... deal is done now, I appreciate your honesty though hitchhiker! When I'm cruising around enjoying my rod the windshield post swap will be an insignificant distant memory.... I hope!

Nice gauges-"Water level" - that's a new one- are you going to hook it up, and how does that work?

 

I think it's "water" - (temp)"level" I like them but in the roadster they just didn't look right to me. I moved them on and used the money to take to the Ballarat swap meet. They do look nice though!

 

Did some polishing today, picked up a coil for my finned cover, "U" bolts for the front spring and purchased a cheap and toasty sectioned grill mainly for the crank hole bezel.

 

Stoked to finally have a patch panel to finish this cowel up the way I wanted it. Let alone two!

 

Both my patches arrived today and my 37 deck lid handle is on it's way!

 

The grill and 37 handle arrived this week. Work has been busy, so no real progress.

 

Original bezel came with a sectioned insert. If it was full height I'd repair it a little, and run it!
