  1. Yes you can just swap Cab's. Yes you can just bolt up front sheet metal. You should also know there are a Ton of small differences. Were it Me and I found a nice enough Slant Cab to cut all to pieces just to save a 56 Big Window I wouldn't, I'd go a different way. I'd graph the Big Window into the Slant Cab and call it good. Oh wait a minute, I already did that back in 1972.
My take is no matter what you find cheep enough to cut up, it is going to have rust in it. Just buy patch panels for the cab. Also you should know there are no real good patch panels for these cabs. You have to be a pretty good Tin Smith to make any of them work out if you really give a Crap how it all comes together. If your a Bondo Bandet scratch my last 2 sentences. I'm in the middle of this right now. Cab corners, door bottoms, Cowell sides. What a bunch of Kinda Close Crap. It don't matter who you buy them from.

  6. I like that Big Window Slant Cab. I did a nice one back in the early 70's. Wonder where it ended up?

I'm looking for a solid, unmodified frame/rolling chassis for one of these, if anyone knows of any... prefer to find one here in Arizona, but anywhere in the surrounding region is fine.

  9. Photos of photos from 1976. This was my work truck while I was building my Sectioned and Channeled but not Chopped 53 Panel truck. Yep, that's a Big back window in there. Wow, that was like Forever ago.

  10. There is a company that makes that big window rear cab section. might buy it new rather than a old rusty one? I think a 53 thru 55 has pretty much the same bottom sheet metal. the fenders and hood will interchange.

  11. I could be persuaded to sell the short bed frame and short box trailer that I have.

This was my daily driver in the mid-late '90s. Originally a Y-block, I put in a .030 over 1970 429 and top loader 4 speed, added a 'glass front clip among other things, drove coast to coast twice. Still miss that truck. Oh, and I just missed out on a deal on a '56 big window project truck. Darn. 10. truck stop in North Carolina, June 23, 1996.jpg 7. 400+hp 429 w 4 speed top loader behind it.jpg

  18. To quote an old line “ the price is right!”. If the rear glass is intact it’s a good thing. Replacing the front window can be pricey. The ‘55-6 F-100’s shared the same chassis so it could be done. However, you may need to measure it all just to be sure.

If the cab is salavagble and the glass is good, that’s a good price. My opinion, Bones

  28. My old 53...bought it with a blown up 350 Olds. I built a 301 SBC, 350 turbo, 66 Lincoln axle and subframed it with a Camaro Z-28 clip. I sold it and the new owner painted it Porsche Guards red.

  29. Is that a Brown truck with Gray primer on it or a Gray truck with faded Red oxide primer? That looks like an easy builder.

That’s a Blue truck with a coat of surface rust. I’m one of those guys. Had this truck for 25 years, sitting right there, going to get to one of theses days. Kinda like the other 30-40 vehicles I collected over my life time.Bones
