  9. Oh yeah! Some great Jimmy Jones skirt action going on there! He was a true master. Shame he is pretty much unknown to most people. He belongs in a k/custom hall of fame somewhere! E

Amen to that, OG lil E!
BTW, As a teenager, Dave Jenkins (owner of the black '57 Chevy in previous post) also ran Jimmy Jones skirts on his first car, this nice 1950 4 door Fleetline!

I ran across this while digging through some old Popular Science Magazines..June 1952...I remember awhile back, don't remember what thread, someone was wondering about the costs of customizing back in the day.... I found not only the cost of the individual jobs interesting but also some of the wording and descriptions used back then....times have changed.....[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Here is an estimate that came with Sondre Kvipt's (SuperFlye on the HAMB) Barris built '49 Chevy.

Total $96....I'll have to get back with you on that!"

  24. Wow! learned something new today. I didn't know Mr. Jenkins had a Fleetline. Neat car. As I've mentioned many times before, I'm kind of a weirdo. I like the four door Fleets ('49-'52) better than the two doors. I really like the little taillights that were built into the bumper guards. Probably too small by today's standards. I could see some distracted soccer Mom on the phone in her SUV not seeing you've stopped at a traffic light and use your fine slopeback for a ramp as she "Dukes of Hazzards" right over the top of you!
Great pic as well. Could have been taken in 1955 or yesterday! E
