Charlie Ettein’s Ford Pickup 2017

Hello,

Charlie Ettein’s yellow Ford Pick Up Truck was a absolute terror at Lions Dragstrip between 1958-60. It looked mild with the painter’s rack on top and the painter’s paraphernalia in the back. But, sometimes you would see it run with everything in the back for more traction. Other times, the bed was empty. The motor: A 471 supercharged, Chrysler Hemi engine with an automatic transmission used over 100,000 miles of daily driving, what an amazing feat. (A 5000+ lbs. truck slated for C/Gas. Our 1940 Willys Coupe’s (671 SBC ) future competition in C/Gas.

Do these FE combinations sound familiar to you?
427 Block w/ 428 crank = 446 ish
Supposedly this was the combination used in a '57 Ford on Woodward in the Late 60s.
or
427 block w/ 360 crank = 395"
I ground a crank for this combination for a buddies circle track car. The rules were going to change to under 400" but before we got that one done they made the limit 355 so we build a Cleveland.

I thought the 427 block with 428 crank was 454. I could do the math. But I don't really have that much interest.

 

Never been this deep into a FE build before.
I just told Nathan..... if I was building one this is what I would do.
Other than compression ratio he has done as I would.
It should be a fun time bringing both are car to the races. Maybe we get lucky and get to square off in the finals.
