My speedo cable comes up the right side of the firewall. I think part of your oil pan clearance problem is that two-piece pan. But maybe the regular one-piece pan would still be too close.
Yes mine cable also comes up the right side. Then loops around the driveshaft to fit into the turtle.
That's a bit of a tight turn isn't it? Seems funny why Ford had the cable go down the right hand side of the firewall only to have to go to the left. I wonder if it had something to do with the mid year axle change. Sent from my SM-G935F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yes it is quite a loop. But works. As long as you have long enough cable. I forgot you may have a steering wheel on the right side although I don’t know if it would make much difference.
A bit of a setback today. The top of the threaded part of my (working!) fuel gauge snapped off when I tightened down the tube locating nut! I've looked everywhere in the shop for something to fix it with but ran out of ideas. So maybe someone out there has a good takeout fuel gauge? After all most hot rods run an electric gauge so they must be out there. So if anyone has one please let me know. Thanks Ed

Today was the big day. The body was fitted after I'd done everything I had to do on the wiring and plumbing of the chassis. I love the 1932 design with the separate firewall. It allows you to do so much wiring before fitting the body. I placed the rolling chassis in front of the cab. Then I lifted the cab using a board of wood with a blanket on it placed in the lift arms. Lift the cab and roll the chassis back under the cab. Slowly lower the cab and move the chassis backwards in stages. The cab needs to go down and forward relative to the chassis. Up until the last inch it doesn't look like it'll ever fit but it does! Drop a Phillips screwdriver down one of the hood mount bracket holes to locate the cab on the firewall and then let down completely. After that I spent another hour on the wiring, routing all the wires up the left cowl. More tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G935F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

The windshield saga is over!!! I ordered a complete set of glass from Macs ages ago. When it arrived the windshield was in a hundred pieces. Now it might be laminated but those pieces are sharp as hell. So I ordered another. However when I went to fit it, the glass was just too thick to go in. Eventually after hours of soaping and pressing in with straps in just wouldn't go in. Finally when trying to remove it a small nick in the corner and it cracked. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the reproduction glass is too thick. I guess I could have just bunged it in with silicon, but that's not the way to do it. So I took the cracked screen to my windshield man and he had a new one made up out of HSG. That's not laminated but toughened. I had it made 5/32" (4mm) thick which is super thin. Picked it up yesterday and the edged had been polished beautifully which helped it slide in place. It was so thin I told him I was scared to transport it. He took the screen in his hands and bent it across his knee. That HSG is amazingly bendy! So this morning I fitted a new cork/rubber seal into to frame, rubber side towards the glass and sprayed in with lubricant. The screen just slid into place. I had the whole thing assembled in 15 minutes. So from now on I'm having my glass made locally to my specifications in HSG. It was cheaper than the crappy reproduction too. In the US it's illegal to use non-laminated glass for the front windshield. Tempered glass may be tough, but when that big rock comes straight at your face the tempered glass will not stop it. Or, when you are running head-on into another car the tempered won't keep you inside your car. I'm not sure what the rules are in the UK for front glass.
