"Build" My 1935 Ford 5 Window Coupe... Chopped & Channeled!

So I picked up a complete 1935 Ford 5 window coupe in East L.A. at the end of last year to teach myself how to build a Traditional Hot Rod.... Car was in decent shape minus the floors and frame being rotted and the motor was shot....

Here's how I got her out of a closed down shop...

 

Removed the glass, floors, and fenders...

Working on the chop lines...

Went for it and chopped it!!

Playing with the heights and angle...

Probably not the "correct" way to chop it... didn't want to chop the pillars...

 

Frame was shot!

Picked up a 1940 Ford Frame in way better condition minus the front crossmember, which I was able to salvage off the original frame...

Working on the roller.... new drop axle, lowering spring front n rear....

Picked up a 1950 Ford 239ci 8BA motor..... dropped it in...

 

Body is Chopped and about ready to be removed from the frame...
Did all the work myself so I had to find a way to pull the old frame and mount the body on the new one...


Body is on the new frame...

 

Louvered deck lid...

Starting to take shape... Body is Channelled and has a slight lean forward.

Working on the front end... lights, shocks, hood, grille...

New short radiator mounted...

Making some wild zoomie headers....

 

WOW !!! Was not sure I would like a 26 chopped but man that has a Bonneville salt flat look. I am impressed . Nice work.

No. Going to keep it like it is. I do have the fenders but there not in the best condition.

Thank you I appreciate that!! Not sure if I just threw caution the the wind or was ignorant to what all was involved.... but im glad I did and even more glad to start seeing the end to it.... if there is an end. lol!

Thank you! Hoping to learn with what I have and start getting some better quality tools.... I figured the stuff I have is better then what hot rodders had back in the 40's/50's....

Ordered some 750-16 tires for the rear, should be here any day....

Next step is to finish wiring it and fire it up!.... then the floors, windows, steering box, and a ton of loose ends!

 

I think that will look great without fenders ! I have a 36 that I want to do fenderless.

 

Yeah I am a big fan of the fenderless hot rods.... they just look mean.... I thought about trying to run the fenders but wanted that salt flat racer look..... I like the look of the 36 slammed, chopped, with fenders....
