Ok guys, I'm on the lookout for a 94-95 mustang t5 bellhousing. There has to be someone it there that stripped one for the engine but not running the stick shift with it. Any help would be appreciated. BART.

So, my friend showed up with his new Eastwood SCT drum sander and I let him loose on the "Kemp". Needless to say, I was quite impressed at how it turned out with the short amount of work. Here's some progress pictures.

I didn't put the new quarters on yet. He just cleaned it down to where I'm going to cut the new quarter on. I'll get some pictures of the inside once I get the floors welded to the new rockers. I'm an amateur compared to most on here so my work may be lacking in comparison.

What does the drum sander look like? How long did it take to do that? I have not heard of that tool but I'm interested to hear more. Also, glad to see this car is still coming along, progress looks good!

I just set it in place. The side showing the sanding just has a bandaid and some tape to make sure my body lines are lined up from mating the two bodies together.

Squablow, here is the tool he used. He stripped the door to bare metal in about 25 minutes and the quarter in about 30 minutes using different abrasive drums.

So I did my first cut in of my new EMS quarter panel and I must say they are a top quality piece. The nicest thing on my cobbled together mess.

I know I've seen this on here but I can't find it anywhere. What outside door handles do you use if you are deleting the side trim? I think it was 37-38.... right?

Got the quarter pretty much mocked up to where I'm happy and can start welding. Don't worry about the wheel due to its a 4 lug comet rear I threw in it to move it around.

Thanks Squablow. It's not the standard of work that most do on here but it's turning out pretty good for my limited skill set.

NGOF... about rust removal.
I've been using citric acid lately for rust removal. Does a very thorough job and isn't problematic like sandblasting or other acids. So far, I've only used it for small parts and tools that I can fully immerse in the water and citric acid solution. But I read that somebody was experimenting with using it on body panels by thickening it. I forget the thickener used... cornstarch? And then covering it with cellophane to keep it from drying out. It leaves a thin dark grey or black coating that's easily removed. You can find citric acid in powder form in the baking aisle at the grocery store. Larger amounts can be purchased from baking supply stores.

BTW...
Parts need to be rinsed in a solution of baking soda and water after rust removal to neutralize the acid. And then rinsed with plain water.

Thanks magoozi and Rickybop. I'd be very interested in the citric acid ratio. All my other panels(fenders, doors, hood etc)are in good shape. It's just the rear quarters and roof.

 

Coming along nicely. You have to feel good about the progress so far....

 

Well, I made some progress on the car lately. Got the quarter tacked in place and the lower front wheelhouse fabbed up. It's not show quality but will do for the kind of car I'm building. Also put at 5 lug rear in so I can put wheels on it that I intend to use eventually.
