Being 6feet a 29 Roadster is somewhat shallow and with a laidback windshield too, the stock seat ended up on the garagewall and Im making a new one from scratch which includes shooting, killing and skinning an old leather sofa for the hide. Its not all sunshine up here so leather is the way to og since Im not going to have any kind of top. I buildt up the front a bit to get a kind of support so I dont slide forward while driving...... And theres enough left over leather for the newmade side- door- and kick panels too...kind of. I had to do some tweaking there.. laugh laugh....more to come.

Sorry, I dont have any more pics. But its just a wooden frame with a senter support (Seat only. Back is only plywood and foam) and screwed together, altenativly using some 90 degree metalsupports. Instead of measuring I buildt it "on location" kind of adjusting it on the floor between the frame "dip" to get it low enough. As you see, Ive buildt it up in the front with some wood and sanded down the back of each to avoid sharp edges. And then some strapping band stapeled all over and some appropriate foam. The leather itself is just stapeled around the frame. The seams showing in the pics in my first post are the actual sofaseams. Thats why its two seams in the seatback and one in the middle of the seats. below is a pic of the side/door panels. I had to improvise alot since I ran out of leather, so theres a seam diaonally over the doorpanel and rear side panel but it looks ok-ish when in the car when I testfitted it. I might redo those later when I hunt down another sofa. he he. But I was going for a worn, old-ish look soI guess I might keep it. We`ll see.
I have no idea how you fit below the windshield in that seat being 6 feet, unless you run a maximum of 2" chop and fairly straight up stanchions. My stanchions are chopped 2" I think, (I bought them as seconds, stainless) and then I wedgecut and welded them for the laid back look and then I cut the top of them below the pivotpoint too (Glas is going directly into the stanchions, no frame) so its a tight fit to get my head down below the window which was essensial for me.
Looks great! I have killed several sofas over the years for the same purpose. Now I just need to build the cars for them!
I hunted for a old leather sofa for over a year and never did fill my tag...So I had to buy some material.
Bagged my couch a year before I started building my roadster. It was left in the middle of this guy's parking lot. When I told him I would take it he looked at me like I was nuts. After we loaded it on the truck I told him what my plan for it was. Think he still thought I was wacked.Doing the interior now. I am 6 feet tall and my 28 was a challenge. Made wooden frame to move me back and down. 2 inches foam on bottom and 1 inch on back. No Lincoln or Rolls but works pretty good '
All kidding aside your car looks great. If you have any leather left over with no use for it use it for tool box drawer liner, it works great......
That seat looks great! I am going to have to do something similar for my stocker '28 roadster. I am too big around and tall to be able to drive a stock one very long comfortably.
Seat in my 28 RPU...I'm 6'-1" and had a hard time driving more than 45 mins before needing to stretch. Built a seat that was a little lower and tucked in so i could fit better. I also salvaged leather for a "new" seat. Seat frame is the rear seat from a mid nineties full size blazer. Cut, narrowed, shortened, pinched...etc. All in for about $75 bucks... even hand stitched a shifter boot..Interior panels next!
