I love those commercial cowls. I was on my way to purchase one on the agreed price when decides to text me and tells me he sold it to someone else. Not quite the way I do business so I'm on the prowl for another. This looks good Mr. Flop..........once again! Thx for your posts.

Always good to follow one of your projects, is that a 28-29 rear clip you plan to mate to it? Bob

The local fire dept. has a 31 AA. I believe the cowl you see would be what came on a commercial chassis as built at the factory. Likely no hinges or windshield affixed. 1931%204.jpg

I have one of those cowls (but none of the rest of a body). Always thought a Duvall windshield would be good on it. Interesting to see your solution to the front of the doors.

The fire truck cowl is different from the cowl Flop has.

IMG_0085.JPG IMG_0083.JPG Good to see someone working in a messy shop like mine. No polished concrete floors. Crap and useful stuff and tools and bits everywhere. . . But focus is on the job and art flows from it . . . Looking forward to see your car transform. Here's mine.

Some '30 -'31 comm. roadster cowls have door hinge provisions, some don't,
some have an offset for the door gap at the rear edge of the cowl, some don't...
    .
If your's didn't have hinges, look close at the area of the firewall that the patents tag is riveted to, some have an extra tag below the 4 rivet patents tag...
only has 2 rivets, the body #s are stamped into them... gets your A rod registered in ME.
    .
25 years ago I saved them and would secretly give them to buddy's wives to tie a "for whom tag" on and hang it on the back side of the xmas tree
After all the gifts were opened she would tell him there is one more... One happy model A hot rodder !

Those cowl patches are seamless, I don't know how you do that. Great work though.

Flop you mentioned turning the bezels on the handles? What does that mean? It looks great by the way.

Nice Roadster Flop! I've had a few commercial cowls over the years, with and without the hinges. I wonder if the top tin is the same on both? I need the structural piece that goes under this one. Bob DSCF6835.JPG DSCF6834.JPG

There is something familiar about this. Correct me if I am wrong but the 32 to 34 Fords had a similar commercial cowl for everything from fire trucks and buses to open topped trucks. I got an original 32 Ford cowl last year that has no windscreen post holes or hinge housing.

    bob,
henry called the heavy cross support the dash bar, as opposed to the sheetmetal cover, the dashrail...
