Stogy, i remember a few years ago , people would complain about old threads being dug up. I faded back into the woodwork but have been watching . I used to have a different name on here back about 12-14 years ago but couldnt remember it when i got back from the desert.
The elderly man I bought my '27 tub from (body, frame; roller, $300!) had a mint pair on the shelf in his shop. (E&J) I asked if they were for sale, and he asked what I'd offer...I said they were worth a LOT, but I wasn't interested. He then sold me the steel '27 roadster with fenders, (no axles, bustle, or running gear...but body, frame, GAS TANK, doors were NICE!...$250!) My F100 made 2 trips to get my 'T' stuff home. FARK the ugly E&J's. But they served their purpose, as he said he knew I wasn't there to take advantage...
Some of the Hambs best threads have faded to the background and it is a pleasure to see what built this nostalgic celebration the Hamb. As it is always suggested "Did you use the search?" The gospel is ever changing but a lot has been archived...rightfully so. If it wasn't worthy it wouldn't still be here. I have great respect for the enterprising individuals who fueled the customizing automotive evolution we feed off for what we enjoy. Edmund & Jones is one of them... Does Zipper still make the fiberglass reproduction lights? Sent from my XT1585 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It seems that SAR has gaskets and lenses.... Does anyone make these lights today, as in a complete set? Sent from my XT1585 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
This is why old threads are important...I will snoop around tomorrow but others may chime in and you have alerted Denis...as eluded originals pull a pretty penny...
Reproduction is good enough for me. I am saving something that was left as a throw away. I don't have much to work with, but I am finding good solutions within my budget. Sent from my XT1585 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
This is a long shot but what the heck...there is a fellow at this forum below who made reproductions in 2009. He is in Michigan. Bob Scherzer -- Saginaw, MI http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/80257/87943.html?1239764662

If you're patient and can wait awhile, I'm working on reproducing the E&J lights. They'll be as close as possible in appearance to the originals. Sent from my SM-G935F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I'd love to see the front of the skirted '30-31 Ford in post #69...the whole car is at least knocking on the door of a good design, and it looks like the E&J's just might look decent among the other bulbous shapes...something harf to do on an early Ford!
Bruce I've searched high and low for other pics of this and it highlights how rare images of these reminders of a past glorious time are. Albert Drake is the one who spoke of and perhaps photographed this car and the man who owned it...his name was Bob Feeley... There is a chance that the top left photo in the pic below may be the same car albiet the lights are not E & J's and the hood looks to be different at least in color. It could be the same car just a different time-frame of its existence. If it is not it seems as if it may have been at the very least a Frank Kurtis creation or inspired by. https://www.customcarchronicle.com/custom-history/history-of-the-early-custom-car/
First prototype of an E&J headlight ring. I could have bought a decent used car for the price this prototype cost me but it'll be worth it in the end. Next up are a pair of shells. Sent from my SM-G935F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
@edwardlloyd your passion for automotive history, all things mechanical and the fine details are just something to behold...awesome. I take it the inner workings are going to be a setup of your design rather than projected as the originals. If a modern lighting setup is what you are using the outer lense will externally mimic the original?
Not sure yet. Machining has a high unit cost but low capital investment. Casting costs loads up front. It'll depend on demand. Sent from my SM-G935F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You're correct. I'll be using a modern light inside. I considered projectors but they're expensive too. I've found a light which looks pretty close. I'm not even sure if it's going to be viable yet. Sent from my SM-G935F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
