Sorry don't know anything about it. All I know it was at the GNRS.

  2. That looks the Lincoln Futura. This was the car that Barris built the original Batmobile out of in the 60s.
I know the Futura was a concept car and I thought Ford (or Lincoln) only built one. Was it possible there was more than one? E

  5. Unless the front end on that tilts up, that little panel IS the hood!

Notice the hood is welded to the fenders.....

  16. I remember seeing this one in that issue of Street Rodder. Funny how you instantly remember the feeling you had seeing it back then.... 'course I was just a kid...

Carl Zechbaur was a maverick, and given to chopping the darnedest things!
He carved his own path, and I dare say the hobby wouldn't be what it is today without his contributions.

When I was kid... I bought this 53 Buick in fact when I bought it the starter was missing so I went back to the guy I bought it from he didn't have it he gave me the name of the guy that he got the car from so I asked him if he had the starter for the car he said he did..he told me that he figured some one would be coming around sometime asking be cause it was a hard one to find , 53 was the first year for 12volt in the Buicks they went from straight eights to V-8's in 53, so I asked if he would sell it...he said Hell No but I will take a fifth of Canadian mist for it I agreed but I had to go find someone to go get it for me, I was only 19 at the time, when I returned I give him the bottle he give me a box I looked inside ..it was totally disassembled he said you didn't ask if it worked or not....but he agreed to put it back together for me I drove it for while then traded it off but I still love the old Buicks I have had several different one's through the years oh ya Mike ,the whiskey guy, him and I are still good friends ....almost 40 years now.....[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I can't remember if I had asked this question in the past....so I spotted this article on chopping a top and it looks like a car that was being posted that was to be auctioned off I believe it was purple? Or green? No purple? Anyways the article is in a Dec. 1988 Street Rodder Magazine "Chop a '40 sedan" I don't think the car is all'40 ....some '39 mixed in? I think the car is sooo KooL......[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Now the question of the day. :) A Chevy with Ford trim or a Ford with Chevy front end?
