I apologize if this has been noted previously; I nosed around and couldn't find a mention.
There is nice video from 1964 of the Dick Coffey Thunderbolt on the track and in the pits taken at Jake's Drag Strip on the Alabama page at dragstriplist.com.

It's all in the first 5 minutes or so. The rest of it is circle track stuff. It's a neat video on its own if you enjoy the old primitive tracks, particularly in the South. It's a good website, too.

So glad you can't see the modern wheels here ..No,no, they're not fake spindle mounts. They'd be okay ;-)

Hello, I am writing a book about the history of Accelaquarter Raceway, located in Harrisburg, Illinois. Eldorado is only seven miles away and I was interested in the owner of the Acord -Connaway Thunderbolt....the one that was wrecked at Indy? Do you have any info on the owners? Also, I interviewed Don Hawthorne, a DeSoto Illinois native who bought a new Thunderbolt, a white four speed car, picked it up himself through connections with the Nashville Illinois drag strip and a Ford Dealer out of Centralia, Illinois. Don raced the car for two years and sold it to a West Frankfort, Illinois man, the car was eventually sold to someone out of the county and it has since been brought back to the US, restored, and on display somewhere in Virginia. Any pictures of this car? The original owner lost his pictures in a house fire. Thanks!

Good question I have only seen one and there is some back and forth back in this thread as to are they to be considered Real Thunderbolts? I don't know the answer.

Found this on another site. They said these Firestone Lightning Cheater Slicks came with all the T-Bolts. Expert opinions?
