I see 10 1/2" written on the top corner. Is that the amount cut out? ;)

Looks like a fun car, and a good save of a rather crunched body. Keep up the good work.

We know the 15 oz and 554 coupes are still with us but what about the Hyder & McCloud car? I had an opportunity to buy it about 25 years ago but have not seen anything about it since. My memory is Hyder's son called me asking if I was interested in it but I was only buying muscle cars at the time. It was in Asheville, North Carolina then and everything they had pertaining to it went with it. It was a price where I could have made money just on the car and still had all the spare parts to sell or do something else with. But I had several muscle cars in the pipeline I wanted to buy. It is a lost opportunity I have not forgot.

  6. ^^^thanks fer the "15 OZ" info,..I remembered somethin about beer cans...

Kinda what I was thinking when I snapped these pics of it a few years ago!

Can’t wait to see the Lytle coupe in action. The world needs more of these! Amazing work, and a heroic rescue.

We converted our JD2 bender to hydraulic. Man what a upgrade! No more 8ft cheater bar, giving the ol' heave-hove over and over. We use to have to mount it to a huge, long I-beam outside, which really sucked ass in the cold winter. Now we can bend shit in the comforts of a heated shop.

The cage in the car is pretty straight forward. It's not built to really any sanctioning rules, since this car will be run only on outlaw tracks and backstreets.

Now I know where to go to get some tube bent.... That cage looks pretty sturdy. It should get you back home in case one of those hold my beer and watch this moments goes other than planned.:)

We mocked the engine back up to make sure the crossbars for the front of the cage/steering box were going to clear the setback 14-71 and lines. It was also a good point to start setting up the controls of the car. Getting the seat at the right angle and height to be able to see out of the car and proximity to the cage are crucial.

Once the main hoops and bars were in place and fitted inside the confines of the body, we yanked the body so we could have easier access to add some more bars and braces. At this point the body seemed like it weighed about 30lbs.

    Hey Magoo,
This is Sam. Glad you like the project. You'll have to come to Riverdale when this is finished, and relive the Willys days!

Its almost mandatory to have center steering with the draglink poking through the hoodside and splash apron.

The standard boxes used were franklin, ross or p&s gears. We ended up going with a Schroeder box. It's a handsome unit. We got it mounted on some stands with some homemade pillow blocks, and bent up a simple column support. We raised and plated a hoop steering arm and used a long schroeder pitman arm.

This is killer, exceptional work, and fairly basic tools (I noticed the notcher in the pistol drill,) Just shows you ont need a big pro shop, just talent. Gonna watch this one. What sprint wheel are you using?

That thing is awesome. Don't know what you've decided but in my opinion I can't see any other way than to stick that injector through the hood. You can't hide something as cool as that.

Those are aluminum Wilwood Hubs. They are of no use now that a set of spindle mounts will be taking their place.

Few more bars in to tie the cage together.

I made some mounts for the 5 gal moon tank. It puts it up high enough to gravity prime the pump. The tank tucks in nice inside the grille and clears the hood when it's down.

Beautiful work Sam, one of the safest cages I have ever seen ! Is that an 8 to 1 box ? With the length of the steering arm, it might be a little quick !
