Four on the floor for me.

  4. In 1959 I swapped complete Olds engines, Hydramatic trannys, and rear ends, into a couple of cars, and my friends thought that was a smart way to go. There were few inexpensive, strong, 3 or 4 spd trannys available so we used what we thought would hold together. Nobody cared.

Have a M22 in my daily driver 57. Race car has a A833 4spd. 57 wagon (not running) has a Super T10. Would love an aftermarket 5spd in my driver but have never quite had the funds for it.

I am building a 30’ Ford roadster with a 354 hemi (approx 410 hp) and am now deciding on a manual tranny. Trying to keep my build 60’s style and am thinking an A833 (Passon o/d)? Looking for thoughts on how the shifter will sit in place and any other advice - pros/cons ? I will be doing a fair amount of highway cruising.

    Don,
I really like the interior in the car!
What is the steering wheel out of? I have a similar one out of an early '60s Caddy that I am planning on putting in my '51 GMC.

Yup... The new Arin Cee Roadster has a wide ratio Muncie M20 - a little too new to be "period correct" but it's bulletproof and fun to drive, and those are my primary considerations.

  17. Thanks. The wheel is from a 1961 Chevy Impala. I had a 59 Impala in it for a while but everyone uses those so I wanted to be a little bit different. I have done the door panels since that photo was taken. I guess you can tell that I love yellow.

So do I. I'd show you a picture of the firewall on my GTO but since it is too new I'd get flamed for it.
I'd show the rest of the car but the firewall is the only part that is done.

Can't take the credit for the build and the builder may have been advised by the Nailhead guru Russ Martin. One of the last 4 speeds used, out of an early 80's Camaro. Real low first and second gear which allows for a high geared rear; ~3.0:1. With 16" rear wheels, it is like having an overdrive and works great. Especially after getting rid of the leak prone hydraulic throw out bearing and going with a slave cylinder. MarchMeet15 016.JPG
