image.jpg Body was from this car then sold to Dave Beaubein (sp?)
Dave redid chassis and set it up for SOHC injected motor but did not finish it. Dave Meals bought it around 67-8 and ran with injected 426 Hemi, he had some Hrudka connection back then. Jess Belton Jr. bought car around 70 less motor and trans. and raced it with stout 331 Chevy and 4 speed then car went to sleep around 73. I bought it in 93 in untouched as raced condition. Raced and showed up until I sold it in 97, last heard it's in collection in Ok? That's how I rember info, could be a little off.

Thanks steveo, thats a lot of good info. I'm looking for Jack Merkel's steel 33 as shown in post #2275. a person we know bought the car but I was in Vietnam and lost track with a lot of guys from the old neighbor. Only after many years did I learn it went out to California and was raced as a S/G car, it has disappeared. I would just like to know what has become of it and Bob Grimm.

There was a collection of Willys and other cars out at the Metatal Airport near Detroit. I believe the owner - and Metatal Airport - are both gone now. Does anybody know what happened to the collection?

Don't know Steveo I last saw it as Jack sold it. My only guess is that it was yellow.

Here's a name that kind of came and went for me, Johnny Rocca. I saw him race this A/Gas a few
times but never got into his Pro/Mod '33 or '49 Merc, "Ironhorse".

The inside joke is that Jeff Jones built Chry Terror for the street, with a Chrysler and hydro, but the pic above is photoshopped.
Chry Terror![1].jpg sears vs Bryson.jpg To me, that's the best Rocca's 33 ever looked. (I think I saw a video of it getting wadded up.) Here it is against Oregonian Mel Bryson at Sears Point in the pretty early days of Nostalgia Racing. sears vs Bryson.jpg

Looks like Jim Tippers "Flurtin' with Desaster" ( old B.C. car) before paint.

S/E probably meant Street Eliminator, a common designation for a class for gassers, altereds and Modified Production glumped together.
