Cleaning up very well. Mostly just dirt. Got about half done tonight. Gonna hit it again tomorrow night and hopefully finish it. Paint next week. Tracy is headed to Pomona so paint when he gets back.
Dude, you have no idea. My teeth, my ears, my beard,..... I got smart day 2 and pulled my hoody over my head and cinched it down real tight. The real pain was 2 hours of holding my head off the concrete. My neck and shoulders were killing me. It was kinda weird to see and smell the different stains as they came off. There was alot of rubber on the right rear.... little sinner. It's 99% done now, ready for the first coats maybe Tuesday evening.
solid car, reminds my 47 Sedan I had... It came out of Boring, Oregon...and was nice . keep up the good work ! It's going to be a fun driver once done !
Boring, Oregon. Norm MacDonald has a joke about choosing an appropriate "safe word" for dominatrix type scenarios. He said you should never choose "boring" as your safe word. "Boring" Ha ha.
I just read you complete posting on your build. Car is looking wonderful. Makes me want to go out and work on my '50 chevy coupe......but it is 35 degrees/ car is setting outside/and the ground is muddy. Oh well spring is on it's way. Keep up the good work --- stay safe --- and keep posting for us.
Thank you, Bob Drake and co. Ordered these and had them within 2 days. New body mounts, bolts, and a roll of frame webbing. Should be ready to rock when the frame is done now. Any tips or tricks from someone who has done this before?
Got to see Tracy in action tonight while I finished up the floors. He was working on the transmission mount. Measure, Mark, bend...... Measure, Mark, bend. 1/4 inch plate for the bottom part.
Back under the car Thursday night to start painting the floors. Hopefully there's more on the car than on me when it's all done.
It's got a couple bumps in the back fenders and down into the black rubber rock guard area but nothing major. I'm just grateful there a very minor rust in just one little spot.
Couple of hours on my back again tonight trying to lay where the paint wasn't dripping. It looks like it' going to flow out reasonably well. Couple of small spots to touch up in the next few days but I like how it looks so far. Gonna let it cure or set up and see what's what.
I'm working on an identical project at the moment and because I'm getting too old to roll around on my back I spent a couple of weekends to build a rotisserie. It's the best thing I could have done, it makes every job a breeze. I built a small basic one for the chassis too, both will be used for repairs, mods, sandblasting and painting jobs.
That would have been really nice. I had to play dodge the dripping paint under the car. And then had to remember not to sit up and put my head into the floor with the wet paint on it. I checked the floor today. There's a few sags and drips but I'm okay with it. It' a rock hard finish that's just supposed to keep the floor from rusting. Good luck on your project. I'm only 35 but I am feeling the concrete blues from rolling around under the car. The next one will get a rotisserie for sure.

Before the body was sandblasted I built an internal frame to hold the firewall, floor, A & B pillars, front body mounts etc in alignment. This was done because I had to remove/replace the complete front rockers, lower cowl pieces, and front floor assembly. The rotisserie was then connected to this frame while these parts were being replaced. I know that it looks like a lot of extra work but it's worth it when it's only you there to do the repair work.
No kidding. Looks like it did the job though. That's what counts. I'm blessed to have a pretty solid start point. Keeping everything square when you start cutting structure out is pretty important.
Finished up the floors tonight. Another simple job done to cross off the list. Gonna order my new tank and tank accessories from Drakes this week and have them ready for when the frame is done.
Drugasm, I don't want to tell you what to do, but I ordered my tank from Bob, like most of the stuff you order from him, it's on Backorder so I got mine from Speedway. It came in a Bob Drake box and was cheaper!!
Chassis black doesn't come off either. I was good about gloves but it soaked up one of my sleeves and my elbows patchy black. I'l have to shop around a bit more for the tank. Drake said $215 and that was the cheapest I found. The guy on the phone did say that other companies come in and buy out their whole stock, though. He told me they had 90 on the shelf last week but no guarantees this week. Thanks for that tip, I'll have to shop it out now.
