  2. I didn't really get an 80's vibe from that. Looked pretty tasteful to me.

  3. Too bad, except for the chrome looking grille shell, I liked it better before.

Gotta say I dug it more before too. Might have changed the wheels and tires.

When you said 80s ugly I was thinking pastel paint with billet wheels and a conversion van interior

  9. Well, I think the previous paint was triple ugly. With a body that nice I'd probably have painted it with shiny paint but with a color change to the wheels [white or light gray] it'd fit my taste very well even with the matte black.

Not a huge fan of the before even though it packed the same vibe a lot of my friends cars did in the 70's and early 80's. That said I am less of a fan of flat ass black. All those cars you see in grainy old 30's 40's and early 50's black and white weren't flat black even though they look flat black in the photos.
But then maybe the guy who bought it has plans to put his own color on it and doesn't figure that he will offend anyone by repainting a flat black car. You can visualize what your color choice would be looking at a flat black car a lot easier than looking at the same car in the "before" mode.

Lot of work to make something flat black....like half the cars built these days. Not a fan of the before pictures either. Lots of colors out there to choose from, flat black almost seems like a cop out to sell a car quick.

Should've just colour matched the fenders and grille shell to the rest of the body.

The flat black look is so "rat wannabe"

Sounds like a flip job which I suppose you have to do what is popular and matte black for some reason is popular.

Not my thing but it was done well and it is what sells.

Really don't mind either color combo.
Funny how popular the brown 2 tone used to be. friend still has it on his 34, and theres at least 2 33s around here with it now as well.

Flat Black is the new ReSale Red. Sad really.

  23. I was thinking at least it would have the EKG line zig-zag antenna and some hot-pink pinstripes.

I like it, all it needs now is creamy white wheels like Danny's car ;)

Nice work, you flipped it and that was the what you had in mind. Good on you.

never cared for the mat or flat black look if you have a good body to start with. when I bought my 40, I had a local hot rod builder looking at cars for me. we looked at a few online. he always said never buy a flat black car online, it can hide too many flaws.
