Maybe a 12 0r 13 gallon spun tank for dune buggy would fit there, look a little 60s, and solve that problem?

"You're still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
Still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
And all the Reeboks and Nikes and Adidas you buy
You can jog up to heaven and you're still gonna die.

Drink ginseng tonics, you're still gonna die.
Try high colonics, you're still gonna die.
You can have yourself frozen and suspended in time,
But when they do thaw you out, you're still gonna die.
You can have safe sex, you're still gonna die.
You can switch to Crest, you're still gonna die.
You can get rid of stress, get a lot of rest,
Get an AIDS test, enroll in EST,
Move out west where it's sunny and dry
And you'll live to be a hundred
    But you're still gonna die.

You're still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
Still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
So you'd better have some fun
    'Fore you say bye-bye,
'Cause you're still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die."

Jim, don't overlook the Hot-rod boats in your search for gas tank. Many boats had(have) stainless spun round tanks, usually two, one for each side.
I had two 11-gallon tanks out of a Sanger hull that I sold just last year!!

    Watch the boat ads too!!

I'm pretty sure I'll want to get one built, to my specs. Neat idea, though!

Don't know if the distraction is from the Honey Do List or not but I have to say your wife must be one of the most understanding women in the world.

Two interesting build threads going on this year. Who will get done first? Deuced Up Cobra or Squirrel and the Barracuda? Then the big question.. Will they ever see each other for a race?

The distraction is a later model car, for the Zip Tie Drags in Tucson this weekend. Janet is going with me, towing the Airstream behind her truck....should be fun.

But there should be a car with a blown hemi there, for me to look at and get ideas from...

Wait a minute!!! Drags in your area this week end?! The hell you say!!! The only thing in the dark grey of the Midwest will be cold rain and snow!
This is a feeble attempt at online humor with a bit of sarcasm.
We will be in the shop working on the tow vehicle and planning a paint job for the Ranchero.

The strip has been running every weekend. Tomorrow is forecast for rain in the afternoon, but mostly the weather has been pretty nice, in the 70s during the day.

  21. We raced at Chandler last weekend too. Beautiful, sunny 70 degrees.
That swath of cold air that hit Ryan stayed east of AZ.:p:p:p

Outstanding. I love the idea of a street ready funny car. Used to daydream about that with my mustang.

Pretty cool and ambitious project you have going, took awhile to get through 30 pages! If you ever find you need an extra set of hands in the shop, let me know, be glad to help out. Your somewhat neighbor, Jeff.

Too bad the weather turned to crap. I left about 2 pm, did you ever get to run the Hooptie challenge? I also noticed on the one run you made with the Turboturd you lost a belt?

I made a pass Friday night, and another Saturday when it lost the belt. That was it. The actual racing was called off due to rain.

Jim, Sorry I missed this thread till now. I am very good friends with the Father of Dave Miller, who at one time was the top unbeaten Hemi Street Racer out east.

here is an article in Chrysler Power 1993 on the 9 second GTX street racer Dave still has, among many other like cars, Steve Magnante did this article . Dave told me when I asked if his dad was BSing about putting $5k on the hood way back like 1980s? He said , "Well" :) "actually:...."we'd do 5, 10 and sometimes $15K" ...YIKES, fellas! that is per race! He would trailer even out to Ohio, and Down to Jersey back then, Dad said over 100K MILES on one trailer they had new!
    100_0591.JPG
Funny that right before I asked Dave about that racing $$, I had JUST stopped at a guys house so close to me, strapping down a red/white/blue 67 GTX race car headed to test/tune at Lebanon Valley NY... I just march right up all the time to anyone!! LOL,..We get BSing... he says HE street raced big time then too....oh hmnnnnnn been so long he says can't quite recall some Dave guy...then BAM! ..Yea! "We hooked up early 80s. while cruising the streets after midnight in E Hartford.. they set a run....that night..this guy says Dave only beat him "cause I missed a shift!!" Dave Miller thought that was pretty damn funny (excuses!) LMFAO!!

Dave said he was only ever beat once "could have been called either way" was stated by Dave to me. Cool guy to talk with, he has the home based "retired teenager days" shop, as like a memento? Then a modern commercial engine shop, and setting up a race engine only one at Dads place! He's maybe 52 now? I forget..
    rampage.jpg rampaged.jpg
I do not know Steve at all, but chatted slightly only about the twin cars shown here, just once , but the other time...I had a 31 Dodge fenderless pickup for sale at Milltown years ago..It had a 340 in it..as you know looks like any LA motor...Steve is walking briskly to the swap...stops HARD... sees a LA motor in it!..., sure enough! bends down to look at the block side ID...and says :"340!" ...I did not dare F with his head!! LMAO!! Like "no kiddin? I had no idea!!!, I was told it was a faw fawtee!!"

    Fun times out here!!
Geez, edit...I have some brain issues still, I swore I already wrote that Steve actually drove past my place last year? with that Esserman AWB!! Not sure why, as it was like mid week? mid day...headed South, no other like cars running with it?? IDK? but WILD to see it on the street so far from Mass? where it resides? IDK?

    .

He sold that car, too. I think it was at an auction last year some time, I don't remember the details, but I saw it somewhere on the internet.

Now that the zip tie drags is over, I've been working on getting ready to do some more work on the Barracuda. I signed up for a Heliarc welding class (someone has to use the old name!) at the local CC. That started the middle of the month, and we actually got to sit down at the machines tonight. I have a lot to learn.

I spent some time starting to clean up the shop, but it's still a disaster.

And robot season started again, so I'm busy several hours a day helping the high school kids build the robot.

But I got to work on the rocker panels today. I'm going to make a piece to fill the inside. They were kind of funky shaped, the inner pieces, so I left them on the floor pan that I cut out. I plan to make a flat piece with an inward bend at the bottom, and then spot weld it in place. We'll see how that goes. I also got a cheap shear and brake. Oh...yeah...and a used Syncrowave.
