Our guy? Big John at Pomona nice shot of the wheelwells Big shot of Hayseed in Black & Red Mr. Voodoo At Phoenix
LB the one you refer to above as Our Guy is Carol Yenter out of the Pacific Northwest. Also Spastic Plastic is a modern build that runs out of a Pennsylvania Vette shop.
LB you are thinking of vetrod62 (Jim). Spastic Plastic is out of The Early Vette Shop and has been driven by Mike Walsh (not totally sure if Mike owns the car). I seem to remember that he runs 10s with the car and he has run it with Jim's New Jersey Outlaw group in the past.
I was thinking about the black one doing a burn out possibly being vetrod62 but couldn't remember his user name. LOL
Rumblegutz I like the filler for the tank through the front emblem. Nice car with typical tow rig set up for the day.
PA Hi Jim, Spastic Plastic is Mikes car. The engine belonged to Bob (Plastic Pig ). An illegal 400 + CI by our rules. Mike has claimed 10.3s but I have never seen it go better than 10.70s. It also has an illegal Clutchless transmission, good for at least 1/2 second better ET. Another violation of our rules. We now have two cars that should beat hist cheatin ass. The pix below is Butch beating Mike out of the hole at Numidia Dragway, Pa. at the last race he was to run.
Jim good to see you post. Hopefully this will be a good year for you and Corvette drag cars in general. Even though Mike's car may stretch your rules I find it hard to not like a black 62 Vette earning its rep on the quarter mile.
Thanks Jim, It looks like a change in plans for me. After 3 years of trying to retire doing 80-90 hours of work per week so I can actually get to that retire, that is not working out. I spent 2 weeks in SW FL in November and could not find a reasonable place to go. So I am staying put, and putting me first for the next few years. Back to cars and racing. I bought a 4 post lift (yes, too old to lift heavy things without pain ) and now can put in the dual adjustable shocks that I bought 4 years ago. Reason for waiting, all new mounting brackets need to be designed and fabricated. Looking forward to "shocking" the major cheater Mike this year. PS, he was advised that his clutchless transmission would disqualify from any wins be for he bought it. Just heard, E-town will no longer have Drag Racing. That will be game changer. All the the Etown racers will have no where to go except Atco (exit 2 on the NJ turnpike) or Island, our home track.
Glad to hear you are getting back to racing a bit as you know it will be great therapy. I have a four poster myself and they do help us old guys from struggling under the car all the time (at least in my case). It is a bitch on E-town but it does not surprise me with the NHRA-sad.
Yep an OH SHIT moment keep the foot on the GAS get me out of here. Slicks are wrinkled like he was just at launch
I found the link in my History https://springfieldil.craigslist.org/cto/d/1960-corvette/6470383390.html But when I looked again there is only this message. This posting has been deleted by its author. This was the picture that I think showed the car as it is now. Pure speculation on my part, I suspect the car sold quickly due to the price.
If that car sold for anything around $13500 that is quite the buy IMO. I tried to google it and only came up with Blue Vel Vette decals for models. It says AHRA record holder so there must be something on the car out there. Cool car no matter what. Pat on the stance of some of these later builds really make me shake my head. I saw a bunch of them race but never saw them with this extreme of a nose bleed stance. I am sure there are pictures out there but not sure that would have been the ideal stance except at the local A & W.
I saw the ad and it said 301 chevy engine no title good for race car or show car only $13,500. There were 3 pictures, 2 of them looked like vintage pictures in an old car show and one was the picture posted above. I'm not surprised that it sold so quickly
