This is a video about vintage race history in South America posted in a blog above and it is dotted with footage of some of the racers above. Mario Andretti speaks about things albeit I don't speak or understand but the imagery I get and it is obvious trade and Industry put North American Automobiles down there bigtime and they had fun with it. Its also interesting that no doubt these fellows moved northward and intermingled with what we celebrate here...

A heads up...within this video there is some accidents albeit it is not the main focus of this film. There is a section from 8:42 to 10:10 that showcases some of the Speedster and Jalopy type racers.

That pic of the front kind of reminds me of the old Bugatties.

I didn't even think about that. I was thinking about the 20s buggati race car Bugatti_Type_37A_3.JPG

Very little info on Jim Pantall or what else he may have created and Topher your Bugatti suggestion got me snooping for European connections and Jim being from across the pond combined the styles in a very pleasing manner that really hit it out of the park. I still believe the grill may be a custom inspired one off.

Lifted from the Vintage Photos thread, just recently. No idea. Cool car, though. Gary

The race cars and video above made me think of this. Least we forget those who didn't finish the race. If it's too gruesome just close your eyes and listen to A.A. Bondy.

Sorry I didn't mention but yes there was some of the tragedy of the hobby in the Argentinian/South American video I posted...and I am well aware of these moments where those vintage Jalopies and Race cars became deathtraps sometimes. Safety evolved on the carnage of the past...the human carnage.

Sometimes we get carried away with she smell of caster oil and trophygirl kisses. Going fastest is a serious business.

Our love of period builds pretty much guarantees even if not racing we must be aware at all times as the Ole Hotrods have vulnerabilities. At least my glass is safety...;)

Hi Gary...don't know if you cropped the image but the full one I found via www had more wild things...equally worthy of the cool description.

Thanks SR that is another cool pic of a wildly innovative machine. At first glance it looked VW/Corvair/Porsche powered.

From reading about it success was limited but again some heavy thinking went into creating that period beauty.
