Received and mounted the 682 C headlights I will be using today. Also Jim B fabricated and installed the seat brackets for the seat today, and yes the cloth will be replaced with leather and a different pattern. The seat is a center unit from a mini van complete with adjustable track and back angle from the local Pull A Part for the princely sum of 35 bucks. 20180108_181531.jpg 20180108_162632.jpg Also thought I would share a couple of pics of two of the car also under construction at Barillaro's 20180108_163538.jpg 20180108_163522.jpg

Getting closer to blowing it apart for paint. Got the OTB Gear headlights mounted, windshield is installed operates smoothly, Mikey B fabbed some cool header extensions and modified the baffles to fit, can't wait to hear what that Y block sounds like through them it was super loud unbaffled. The seat and steering column are in and fit me pretty well. The seat and rest of the interior will be given the black leather treatment. Shift lever has been cut off to rework it to clear seat bottom in 2nd and 4th. 20180117_142934.jpg 20180108_181531.jpg 20180108_154624.jpg

Here are some progress photos that aren't repeats. Jim mounted the fuse panel, voltage regulator, coil, and heater so they are accessible yet out of view from the driver and passenger. Mike's design and metal shaping for the E brake handle recess was a home run in my book! IMG951507.jpg IMG951508.jpg IMG951509.jpg Photos by Jim Barillaro .

I could not find a ready made dash insert that I liked so this morning Jim picks up a sheet of aluminum and a couple of hours later he has fabricated a simple insert that adds just the right amount of bling around the SW gauges. The raised edge will be polished and the flat surface will either be engine turned or scotch bright pad rubbed to a nice satin finish. IMG951531.jpg IMG951530.jpg We rolled it out the shop for one last full view before taking it apart for paint, looking forward to seeing it in an evil shiny black topcoat! 20180124_171836.jpg 20180124_165627.jpg 20180124_163107.jpg The turnouts Mike made for the Geardrive headers look great and keep the baffles in place.

I have to say that I love this build. The coupe is turning out really nice.
Hard to beat an A coupe on 32 rails.
And you can probably figure out Y I like the Y Block ;)

If I build a coupe after my RPU it will be similar to this one

The baffle was modified to fit then welded to the stainless extension and the unit is held in place on the header with two set screws out of sight on the bottom side. . 20180202_160532.jpg

More progress is being made on the coupe, the Barillaro brothers have been doing body prep for paint and shot the first coat of primer today. One step closer to shiny black! 20180217_121957.jpg IMG951677.jpg IMG951676.jpg

Well the coupe did not get completed in time to take it to the LSRU, but a lot of progress has been made in the past two weeks and it should be on the road soon. The chassis is painted and about 95% assembled, 20180409_171124.jpg looking great in shiny black single stage. The priming and blocking is finished and the body will receive its shiny black single stage before the week end. Thanks to the Barillaro brothers for all 20180409_160851.jpg 20180409_155042.jpg 20180409_161137.jpg 20180331_082615.jpg 20180328_214321.jpg their hard work on this project.

Got the seat back from the upholsterer today. It looks grey in the photo but it's actually black. 20180502_162753.jpg 20180502_165002.jpg

Yes it was done locally by Kirk's Kustom Upholstery. High quality, fair price, quick turn around.
