It's what I do best! My avatar car('31 Plymouth) has a SBC in it. I've caught grief from the Mopar guys for years about that.

 

I got the front brakes all set up.....but since they are the disc type, I won't post pics here. Basically, they are Ford Explorer 4x4 rotor hats and GM metric calipers. I made my own brackets....

Also got the steering how I want it, had to put a tweak in the drag link to clear the L tire at lock.



Also got all the parts to rebuild the steering box, so will do that next.

 

Glad the pitman arm worked out...woohoo. Its good to have steering.

I'd like to see what you did with the brakes also. It's always interesting to hear the hows and whys of parts choices and I learn a lot from those types of discussions.

Thanks. To clarify, I'm using front rotors from the Exploder.....I tried using the matching calipers, but they were really bulky and didn't clear my wheels. The GM ones are much more compact.
Will try to get some pics for you.

Some pics of the front brakes for those that were asking.....


Also got my steering box all rebuilt and working nice.

 

I made a couple more floor pieces for up front. Trans cover will wait till later. All of these pieces will bolt in for easy access if needed.


Then I pulled the body back off. Need to finish welding everything, clean up parts and prime/paint...

These cars have great proportions to start with, they don't need severe changes to look good.

This will be a lowbuck project, using parts I have laying around mostly...

Here are a few pics of my brothers 34 sedan along with his starting point (very similar and even same color). He isn't on the hamb. He also channeled the car (major channel) because there were really no rockers or floor to speak of

 

Cool. looks like we both started out with the same thing. 440 power?
Like the color a lot.....I'm thinking about a reddish brown with big flake, a bit darker than that.

 

Been welding up a thousand holes in the frame.......
The bottom of the X member had this notch for the OE single exhaust pipe, I want to duplicate it on the other side so I can tuck dual pipes up under the frame. Keeps the exhaust away from the floor.


So I made some patterns and laid them out

Looks almost factory. Well, close enough......

 

That does look factory,what color will the frame be?

 

No, no, no. That's too much chop for a car that will get driven a lot. Looks great sitting there though.
Will decide on the chop after the car is more complete.

Seth, frame will be body color, but I haven't decided that yet.

My 34 Dodge had an independent front suspension. It was one hell of pile of suspension. It was replaced with the dropped axle. Was just wondering if Dodge was the only oine doing that or did the Plymouths do it as well?

 

Yes, Plymouth PE('34 only) had factory IFS. My car had it originally.

 

I like your innovation and execution, simple with function.

 

Thanks, yes for me form follows function. It has to be usable as I drive the crap out of my old vehicles.

Now if she was in my shop I wouldn't get any work done at all........

The rendering is similar to how the car will end up, but less radical and more practical. I think I can find a happy medium....

 

The happy medium lives just north of Fresno. Tells fortunes and reads palms.

 

I have the frame all smoothed up and ready for primer, just waiting for some warmer weather. Current temp is around zero.
Also cleaned up the rear end housing and springs,. Have a bunch of parts to prime.....
