Hot Rods I bought an old 1934 Ford hotrod out of OK...anyone have any history on it??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Sep 18, 2017.

  1. I've been screwing around with the car and collecting more parts. I got a really bitchin set of early Headman Headers for it, as well as an original corvette steering wheel I nabbed on eBay for cheap.

I also decided to see what a 15" tire with these neat old chrome "Moon" caps would look like

Side note, these caps have a star design etched into them. Does anyone recognize who made these? They look too precise to be done at home.

  8. That's great, that is exactly what I am shooting for. That steering wheel evidently came out of a 58 Corvette.

K, the 4 speed's great and all, but what's the story on those headers in the background?? Hmmmm?

  11. Those are a pair of drag master "U-fab" headers and collectors I picked up. The guy had them on a Model A coupe with an Olds in it in the 60's. I sold them to a NW hot rod legend Russ Meeks, for the restoration of his Nomad. He had the exact collector and collector covers (I guess there was 3 different covers offered) on his Nomad in the 60's and they are long gone. So I delivered them to him at the swap

Wow, cool. The Russ Meeks connection might even be cooler than the headers themselves

  14. Well, not a lot of interest in this thread. But I’ll post some occasional stuff until I start actually working on it and I’ll probably start a build thread.

I bought a nice original grill from @MARSHALL LABOW, the grill that came with the car had the upper portion cut off and the grill rechromed. I also bought a really nice tach drive mallory from @hotrodyankee. The parts keep piling up....

It deserves a 409, BUT if your heart is set on a high winding SBC I have the makings in the classifieds!

  27. Big progress! Not...but I have been soaking the windshield regulator since I got it and last night popped it free. I picked up an old chrome windshield frame I installed. I still need to swap the glass over. The good news is the windshield surround behind the frame was spotless...no rot, actually still covered in factory paint. This is a k own area to rot, so I was pleased to see that.

Speaking of glass. If anyone has some old quarter window as rear window glass, I’d like some old but usalble glass to put in this car.

  28. I picked up an RC blowproof bellhousing from @56sedandelivery last weekend while over for the Puyallup swap meet (thanks again)

Yesterday I pulled the crusty 283 out of the car. The car has two sets of engine mounts. The first are a set right above the stock engine mounts, and the second was a crazy side motor mount that was being used...but it had the engine too far up, back and tilted at a backward slope. So I cut that mount out and with help of a Hurst front engine mount, mocked my 327 block in the car with the trans and some gingerbread

I also found this old bakelight skull shift knob which will eventually go into the car

It's been talked about a lot elsewhere, but if I had a bellhousing that had provisions for side mounts I'd use them with the front mounted Hurst mount.

And, as a side note, I looked at the Malco coupe project a couple of weeks ago. If I wasn't working on an Anglia, it would probably be here instead of in Oklahoma.

I love this little coupe. Must be a blast just mocking it up with different parts/combinations.
We know you'll ultimately end up with an open mouth head turner for sure.
